How notary fees are calculated
The calculator applies these rules automatically.
Registration fee
Every notarial act except certifying that a copy matches the original carries 5 ₾ for registration in the electronic notary registry. This amount already includes VAT.
VAT
If the notary is registered for VAT, 18% VAT is added to the fee for the notarial act.
Signatures and pages
Certifying a signature, including a translator signature, is charged per signature. The rate depends on the number of pages in the document.
Social discount
The discount applies to a member of a socially vulnerable family whose rating score does not exceed 65,000, and to a war or defence forces veteran registered in the database of the State Service for Veterans Affairs.
Half rate
The fee for a certificate of ownership, a certificate of inheritance and protection of an estate is half the value-based rate, but not less than 10 ₾.
Fee by agreement
If the law does not require notarial form for a deal, and for the notary's other services, the fee can be agreed with the notary. For a deal that must be in notarial form, the fee is set only by the decree.
Charged separately
Drafting a document, issuing copies, technical work and legal advice are paid separately. The fee takes into account complexity, advice, work and time spent.
Payment, invoice, appeal
The fee is paid as soon as the service is provided. On request the notary must give you a detailed invoice. If you believe the amount was calculated wrongly, you can go to court.

Frequently asked questions
How much does notarizing a translation cost?
The notary certifies the signature of a qualified translator. The fee per signature is 6 ₾ for a one-page document, 4 ₾ for 2-10 pages, 3 ₾ for 11-50 pages and 2 ₾ for 51 pages or more. Add 5 ₾ for registration in the registry, so certifying a one-page translation costs 11 ₾ in total, excluding VAT.
Is 5 lari added to every notarial act?
The 5 ₾ is the fee for registering the act in the electronic notary registry. It is added to every notarial act except certifying that a copy matches the original. The 5 ₾ already includes VAT.
When is VAT added to the notary fee?
If the notary is registered for VAT, 18% VAT is added to the fee for the notarial act. No extra VAT is added to the 5 ₾ registration fee, because it already includes it.
How is the fee for certifying a copy calculated?
Certifying a copy of a one-page document costs 4 ₾. For a 2-10 page document each page is 2 ₾, for 11-50 pages 1 ₾, and for 51 pages or more 0.5 ₾. For socially vulnerable persons and veterans each page costs 0.5 ₾. The 5 ₾ registration fee is not added to copy certification.
Who is entitled to the social discount at the notary?
A member of a family registered in the unified database of socially vulnerable families whose rating score does not exceed 65,000, and a war or defence forces veteran registered in the database of the State Service for Veterans Affairs. With the discount a will costs 10 ₾, an individual power of attorney 10 ₾, copy certification 0.5 ₾ per page, a copy of a document kept at the bureau 3 ₾, and certifying a fact 2 ₾.
How much does a power of attorney cost at the notary?
Certifying a power of attorney from an individual costs 18 ₾, from a legal entity or sole proprietor 30 ₾. Both carry the 5 ₾ registration fee. For remote certification by electronic communication the fee is 60 ₾ for an individual and 90 ₾ for a legal entity.
How is the fee for certifying a deal calculated?
The fee is calculated from the value of the deal using marginal rates. For example, for a 150,000 lari deal: 362.5 ₾ + (150,000 - 100,000) × 0.2% = 462.50 ₾, plus the 5 ₾ registration. If the law does not require notarial form for the deal, the fee can be agreed with the notary.
How much does a certificate of inheritance cost?
The fee for a certificate of inheritance, a certificate of ownership and protection of an estate is half the value-based rate, but not less than 10 ₾. For example, for property worth 80,000 lari: (122.5 ₾ + 60,000 × 0.3%) ÷ 2 = 151.25 ₾, plus the 5 ₾ registration.
Can the notary charge anything extra?
