Turkish companies and investors in Georgia
Turkish contractors, manufacturers, retailers, logistics firms and investors register companies and branches in Georgia every week, and the Public Registry, Georgian banks and notaries need their corporate documents in Georgian: the trade registry gazette (Ticaret Sicil Gazetesi) extract, the activity certificate (faaliyet belgesi), the signature circular (imza sirküleri), articles of association, board resolutions authorizing the Georgian registration, powers of attorney (vekaletname) certified by a Turkish notary, tax registration certificates and the passports of directors and shareholders. All of these must be apostilled in Turkey and translated into Georgian with notarization in Tbilisi. We translate the full document including the noter certification and the apostille, and we know how Turkish corporate terminology maps onto Georgian company law so that the registry accepts the powers as described.
Ongoing Turkish business in Georgia generates contracts, tender documents, customs and transport documents, product certificates, construction and energy project documentation, employment contracts for Turkish staff and their residence permit files, and correspondence with Georgian authorities. Companies that send documents regularly work with us under a corporate account with a shared glossary, described on our corporate page.
Georgian documents for procedures in Turkey
Georgian citizens living, working, studying or marrying in Turkey need Georgian documents in Turkish: birth and marriage certificates and criminal record certificates for residence permits (ikamet izni) and work permits; diplomas and transcripts for university admission and for degree recognition (denklik) through YÖK; passports for property purchases and notarial transactions; powers of attorney for relatives handling matters in Turkey; medical certificates for treatment and insurance; and company documents for Georgian businesses trading with or setting up in Turkey. Georgian documents are apostilled by PSDA and translated with the apostille.
Turkish authorities frequently require translations to be certified by a Turkish notary (noter), which in practice means done or confirmed by a sworn translator (yeminli tercüman) registered with that notary. A Georgian notarized translation into Turkish is accepted by some institutions and re-certified by others; when a client is going to Turkey anyway, we sometimes recommend having the Georgian original apostilled here and the Turkish translation certified at a noter there, and we say so rather than selling a translation that will be redone. When time or logistics make that impossible, our notarized Turkish translation with an apostille on the notarial certification is the strongest package available from Georgia.
Marriage, family and medical matters
Turkish citizens marrying in Georgia need passport translations, an apostilled certificate of marital status (evlenme ehliyet belgesi or a nüfus kayıt örneği) translated into Georgian and notarized, and an interpreter at the registration; Georgian-Turkish couples registering in Turkey need the Georgian spouse's documents in Turkish. Family reunification and children's citizenship in either country involve birth certificates in both directions, and we prepare the family file as a set with consistent name spellings, which is harder than it sounds when a name exists in Turkish, Georgian and two Latin forms.
Medical tourism runs both ways: Georgian patients travel to Istanbul, Ankara and Izmir for oncology, cardiac, orthopedic and IVF treatment and need epicrises, imaging and laboratory reports in Turkish; Turkish patients come to Tbilisi and Batumi for dental and cosmetic care. We translate medical records with clinical terminology and provide interpreters at consultations.
Turkish interpreters in Tbilisi, Batumi and on site
Turkish interpreting in Georgia is concentrated in business and industry: negotiations between Turkish and Georgian companies, notarial signings of company documents, property purchases and powers of attorney (an interpreter is required by law when a signatory does not understand Georgian), factory commissioning and construction site supervision where Turkish engineers work with Georgian crews, supplier and customer visits, trade fairs, and audits and inspections. We also interpret at hospitals, at PSDA marriage registrations, in court and at police stations when Turkish citizens need language support, and at conferences and trainings in simultaneous mode.
Assignments in Tbilisi can often be arranged within a day; Batumi, the Sarpi border area and industrial sites in the regions need more notice and include travel. Interpreters are briefed with the agenda, the documents and the terminology beforehand, and industrial assignments are staffed with interpreters who know construction and manufacturing vocabulary. Modes and rates are on our interpretation page.
Names, Turkish characters and quality
Turkish names contain letters that Georgian and Latin transliteration handle differently (ç, ş, ğ, ı, ö, ü), and Georgian names carry sounds that Turkish spells in several ways. Into Georgian, we follow the Latin spelling in the passport rendered by Georgian civil registry conventions; into Turkish, we follow the client's existing Turkish documents (a residence card, a previous translation) where they exist and the passport where they do not, and we keep the same form across every document in the file. Dates, identity numbers (T.C. kimlik numarası), tax numbers and registry numbers are checked digit by digit.
Turkish translators on our team are native speakers working with corporate, legal and civil documents daily; Georgian to Turkish work is reviewed by a native Turkish linguist. Standard documents are usually translated and notarized within one working day once the original is available for the notarized copy; corporate packages are quoted with a firm date. Delivery at our office on Davit Aghmashenebeli Avenue, by courier within Georgia, or to Turkey by international courier.
The mistakes that delay Turkish-Georgian files
The first is an incomplete corporate set. Turkish companies often send the Ticaret Sicil Gazetesi extract alone, and the Georgian registry then asks for the signature circular and the resolution naming the representative; each missing document means another apostille in Turkey. We give clients the full list for their transaction before anything is apostilled.
The second is the vekaletname that does not match the transaction. A general power of attorney certified by a Turkish noter may not name the Georgian company, the property's cadastral code or the specific powers the Georgian notary or registry expects. We review the PoA text before translation and, where it is too general, advise on a corrected version so that it is apostilled once.
The third is name and number mismatches. A Turkish director's name with ş and ğ may already exist in a Latin-only form in the Georgian registry from an earlier transaction, or a T.C. kimlik number may appear on one document and a passport number on another; we align every document to the passport and to any existing Georgian registration.
The fourth is certification in the wrong country. A Georgian document translated and notarized in Tbilisi for a Turkish ikamet application may be re-certified by a noter in Turkey, while a Turkish document translated in Turkey for a Georgian registry will be redone here, because Georgian authorities require notarization in Georgia. We tell clients where each document should be certified before they pay for a translation that will be repeated.
