Translation of drawings, diagrams and PDF technical files
Translating drawings and technical diagrams differs from translating ordinary text. In such files the text can be placed in different spots: in callouts, in the legend, in tables, in the scale description, in technical notes, in part names or in safety notices. So the file first has to be looked at and assessed.
A PDF, a CAD export, an Excel table or a technical image may need not only translation, but also preservation of the format. When ordering a technical translation, many companies receive a "bare" Word file: the text is translated, but the graphics, diagrams, tables and brand layout are lost. Translation Memory (TM) and terminology bases - how to save budget
Technical documentation is rarely written from scratch. An electronics importer receives manuals for new models every year in which the safety chapter, the warranty terms, the installation steps and the maintenance rules are repeated almost word for word.
