Bank Statement Translation in Georgia
Bank statements are the proof-of-funds document in almost every visa, residence, mortgage and university file, and they are checked digit by digit. TARGMANEBI translates Georgian bank statements, balance certificates, salary confirmations and tax documents in a table-faithful format that a visa officer can reconcile with the original, and translates foreign statements into Georgian for Georgian banks, registries and residence permit applications.
- Statements translated with every transaction line, balance and currency preserved in table form.
- Balance certificates and salary confirmations for Schengen, UK, US and Canadian visa files.
- Advice on when an English statement from your bank is enough and when a notarized translation is required.
- Foreign statements and source-of-funds documents translated into Georgian for bank compliance.
When a bank statement needs translating and when it does not
Most Georgian banks can issue statements and balance certificates in English directly from online banking, and for many visa applications that is enough: Schengen consulates in Tbilisi, UK Visas and Immigration and most university admissions offices accept a bank-issued English statement without further translation. A translation is needed when the statement is only available in Georgian (older accounts, some corporate accounts, statements from smaller banks and microfinance organizations), when the destination works in a language other than English (Germany, Italy, Poland, Turkey, the Gulf), when the institution requires a notarized translation of the original-language document, or when the file also contains Georgian-only income certificates, tax certificates and pension statements.
The most common mistake is to submit a bank's English statement together with Georgian-language salary certificates and tax documents, so that the officer sees an unexplained gap between the transactions and the declared income. We look at the whole financial section of the file and translate the parts that are actually missing, which is usually less than clients expect.
Bank statements in visa and residence files
Visa officers use bank statements to answer three questions: does the applicant have the funds, where did the funds come from, and is the pattern of transactions consistent with the declared employment and purpose of travel. The translation must therefore preserve not just the balance but the transaction descriptions, counterparties, dates and currency of every line, so that a salary transfer, a rent payment or a large incoming transfer can be matched to the supporting documents. We translate statements as tables, line by line, with the bank's column headings and totals reproduced, and we do not summarize, sample or omit lines.
For Schengen applications the usual set is a three or six month statement plus an employer's certificate of salary; for UK applications, statements covering the required period with the balance held above the threshold, plus proof of the source of any large deposit; for US and Canadian visas and study permits, statements plus evidence of assets and sponsorship; for family reunification, the sponsor's income documents; for Gulf employment, sometimes a bank letter confirming the account. Each of these adds Georgian-language documents (salary certificates, employment contracts, Revenue Service tax certificates, pension statements, property extracts) that we translate in the same style so that the whole file reads as one.
Corporate statements, compliance and source of funds
Companies need translated statements when opening accounts abroad, applying for foreign loans, participating in tenders that require proof of financial standing, undergoing due diligence by a foreign investor or partner, and answering compliance requests from correspondent banks and payment providers. The documents involved are corporate account statements, bank references, audit confirmations, loan agreements and repayment schedules, and Revenue Service certificates on tax debts. We translate these with the company's official name and registration details exactly as they appear in the Public Registry, and we keep terminology consistent with the company's financial statements if we have translated those too.
Source-of-funds and source-of-wealth requests from foreign banks are increasingly detailed and often come with a deadline of a few days. They usually require a chain of documents: the statement showing the incoming transfer, the contract or sale agreement that generated it, the registry extract confirming ownership, and a tax document confirming that the income was declared. We can translate the entire chain in one order with matching terminology, which is what compliance officers look for.
Foreign bank documents translated into Georgian
Georgian banks apply their own compliance checks to foreign clients, and foreign residents opening accounts, buying property or registering companies are asked for translated proof of income and source of funds: statements from their home bank, employment contracts, tax returns, sale agreements. Residence permit applications in some categories also require evidence of funds, and the Public Service Development Agency wants it in Georgian. We translate statements from banks in Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Turkey, Iran, India, the Gulf, the EU, the United Kingdom and the United States into Georgian, with notarization where the receiving institution requires it.
Foreign statements arrive in many formats: PDFs with security features, screenshots from mobile apps, printed statements with bank stamps, and statements in Arabic or Persian with right-to-left tables. We reproduce the table structure in Georgian and preserve every numeric value and currency code. Where a bank requires the statement to be stamped by the issuing bank before translation, we tell you at the outset so that you can request the right version.
Format, checking and confidentiality
Bank statements are checked differently from prose documents. After translation, every numeric column is compared with the source, running balances are verified against opening and closing balances, currency codes and decimal separators are confirmed (Georgian statements use a comma or a point depending on the bank's export format, which can be misread abroad), and dates are checked for format. Bank names, branch codes, IBANs and SWIFT codes are reproduced exactly. Transaction descriptions in Georgian, which often contain abbreviations, merchant names and Revenue Service references, are translated so that the counterparty is identifiable.
Notarization is applied when the receiving institution requires it, and the translation is then bound to the printed statement or to a notarized copy. For electronic statements, some notaries require the bank's stamp or an electronic signature to be visible before certifying; we check this before you print anything. Financial documents are handled with the same confidentiality as medical and legal ones, and corporate clients can request a non-disclosure agreement before sending files. A standard multi-page statement is usually translated within one to two working days, and we quote by page count so that a long statement is priced predictably.

What to send for a bank statement translation
Send the statement as the PDF exported from online banking rather than a photo, so that the tables are legible and the page count is clear. Tell us the institution and country it is for, and send the rest of the financial section of the file (salary certificates, tax certificates, employment contract) so we can tell you which parts actually need translating. If a notarized translation is required, say so, and we will check whether the statement needs a bank stamp first.
Preparing a visa, mortgage or compliance file? Send the statement and we will tell you exactly which pages need translating.
Write on WhatsAppQuestions and answers
My bank can issue the statement in English. Do I still need a translation?
For most English-speaking destinations and Schengen visa centers, no. You will still need translations of Georgian-only documents in the same file, such as salary and tax certificates, and a translation if the destination works in another language.
Do you translate every transaction line?
Yes. Statements are translated as tables, line by line, with all descriptions, dates, amounts, currencies and balances preserved. We do not summarize.
Does a bank statement translation need to be notarized?
Only when the receiving institution requires it. Many visa centers accept a certified translation. When notarization is required, the notary may require the bank's stamp on the printed statement, which we check in advance.
How is the price calculated?
By page count of the statement, so a long statement is priced predictably. Balance certificates and salary confirmations are usually single pages.
Can you translate a foreign statement into Georgian for a Georgian bank?
Yes, from any language, including Arabic and Persian statements with right-to-left tables, with notarization if the bank or PSDA requires it.
How quickly can it be done?
A standard three or six month statement is usually translated within one to two working days. Urgent compliance requests can often be handled faster; tell us the deadline.
Are my financial documents kept confidential?
Yes. Files are seen only by the assigned translator and, if notarized, the notary. Corporate clients can request a non-disclosure agreement before sending documents.
