Legal Wedding Registration at the Venue You Choose

A terrace in Tbilisi, a winery in Kakheti, a view of Mount Kazbek. In Georgia the legal registration can come to you, so the ceremony and the signing happen in the same place. We prepare the application, coordinate the registrar and bring the interpreter and witnesses.

Last reviewed 21 October 2026 against the Law of Georgia on Civil Status Acts and the Public Service Development Agency rules.

The legal basis

Why the registrar can come to you

Many countries allow a legal wedding only in a registry office. Georgia does not limit you that way.

What the law says

  • A marriage is registered at the place chosen by the persons who wish to marry (Art. 49(1)).
  • If you ask for it, the registration can be held in a festive atmosphere (Art. 52(5)).
  • Both of you and at least two adult witnesses must be present wherever it takes place (Art. 52(4)).
  • The agency registers marriages at Wedding Houses, its territorial offices and Public Service Halls, and offers ceremony services in addition to the basic registration.

Where couples marry

Popular places for an off-site registration

Any place you choose can work, as long as the registrar can reach it and the signing can be held in a calm spot. These are the settings our couples choose most.

Tbilisi

Hotel terraces and rooftops over the old town, restaurants and private gardens. The easiest option for a short trip.

Kakheti

Wineries and chateaux among the vineyards, about two hours from Tbilisi, with the Caucasus range in the background.

Mountains

Kazbegi, Gudauri and other mountain venues, for couples who want the peaks in their photos. Weather and access need extra planning.

The Black Sea coast

Hotels and seaside venues in Batumi, with our Batumi office close by.

Historic sites

Gardens and courtyards near historic places, where the venue permits a private event.

Your own choice

A rented villa or a family home. Tell us the address and we check it with the registrar.

How it works

How we organize a registration at your venue

An off-site registration needs one more layer of coordination than a registration at the Public Service Hall. That layer is our job.

1
Weeks before

Venue and documents

You choose the venue and the date. We audit your documents, prepare the translations and the application for the agency's ceremony service, and check the address and access for the registrar.

  • Documents checked the same or the next day
  • Application prepared in Georgian
  • Venue and access confirmed
2
Before the day

Date and time confirmed

The agency confirms the date and time of the registration. We share the plan with you, the venue, the interpreter and the witnesses, and agree where the signing table will be.

3
On the day

Ceremony and signing in one place

Our interpreter and, if you need them, two witnesses arrive before the registrar. The registrar conducts the legal registration, the interpreter renders every word, and the certificate is checked before you celebrate.

Good to know

Planning tips for an off-site registration

Legal part and celebration

The registration itself is short: the registrar checks your documents, asks for your consent, records your surnames and issues the certificate. Many couples build their own ceremony around it, with vows, music and a bilingual host, and place the legal signing at its centre. Others keep the signing simple and start the party straight after. Both work, as long as the registrar has a quiet table and a few minutes without music.

Interpreter and witnesses travel too

The procedure runs in Georgian wherever it takes place, so our interpreter comes to the venue with you. The law requires at least two adult witnesses on site. If you are travelling as a couple, our witnesses travel to the venue with the interpreter.

Season, weather and timing

Weekends in late spring and early autumn are the busiest time for weddings in Georgia. Book your venue first, then let us confirm the registration as early as possible. For mountain and outdoor venues, agree a sheltered fallback spot with the venue in case of rain or wind; the registration can simply move indoors.

After the wedding

The certificate you receive at the venue is the same Georgian certificate as at the Public Service Hall. We translate it the same or the next day and arrange the apostille or the legalization for your home country.
