A professional Serbian translator matters most when documents move between Georgia and Serbia, or when you deal officially with a Serbian-speaking person, company, university, bank, clinic or state body. The translation must keep the person's or company's identifiers, document numbers, dates, registering body, legal status, seals, electronic signature data and every attachment the recipient checks.
For Serbian into Georgian we decide which form is the official identifier and render it consistently. For Georgian into Serbian we need to know in advance whether the recipient wants Cyrillic, accepts Latin Serbian or wants both. Orders can start from a photo or PDF - useful if you are in Serbia, preparing papers before coming to Georgia or collecting a package from several cities.

Serbian's two scripts and accuracy of official text
State documents often have a Cyrillic heading while the passport or an international document uses Latin. Latin is common in business, but Cyrillic may remain the main form in official registers, court acts and civil status extracts.
Translation means reading the text and also controlling correspondence between the scripts. The letters Đ, Č, Ć, Š and Ž must never be replaced with plain English letters in a way that changes a name or address. Where the Latin part gives an official transliteration, we compare it with the Cyrillic form and the passport; in Georgian, one chosen form is used throughout the package. For a name like Ђорђе / Đorđe, the Georgian form follows pronunciation, the official Latin entry and existing documents - and the same applies to cities such as Čačak, Niš, Novi Sad and Kragujevac.
Serbian Cyrillic and Latin are two scripts of one language, but they must never be mixed arbitrarily in an official translation. The form is chosen by the source document and the recipient's requirement.

eUprava and Serbian civil registry documents
Serbia's basic civil status records are the registers of births, marriages and deaths - matična knjiga rođenih, matična knjiga venčanih and matična knjiga umrlih. Extracts may be on paper or electronic; the eUprava service lets you request them, and an electronic document may carry a digital signature, QR code or other authenticity element.
We translate the heading, issuing body, place of registration, act number, personal data, parents' details, dates, additional entries and visible electronic confirmation text. QR code content is never invented; the translation notes the code and the text actually printed. If an extract is on a multilingual form, we still check which fields the recipient needs in Georgian or Serbian. See birth certificate translation.
Citizenship, residence and MUP documents
Documents linked to Serbia's Ministry of Interior (MUP) include ID cards, passports, residence registration, temporary stay, foreigner status, travel documents and administrative decisions. In Serbian, prebivalište (permanent residence) and boravište (temporary stay) can denote different legal situations, so rendering both with one word automatically is wrong.
A citizenship certificate (uverenje o državljanstvu) keeps the issuing body, legal basis, register data and validation elements; a residence certificate the municipality, address, registration date and identifier. If the document is for a migration case, we need to know whether the office wants a notarized translation, an apostille or a translation by a translator authorised in Serbia.
JMBG, PIB and unchanged data
Serbian documents often show the JMBG - the unique master citizen number. Company documents may show the PIB (tax number), registration number (matični broj), account numbers and other codes. These are never translated or freely reformatted. Even if the digits relate to the date of birth or another structure, the translator copies what is on the document rather than reinterpreting it.
On a poor scan 0 and 6, 1 and 7, 3 and 8 can be confused, and a long electronic serial number may wrap over several lines. Before the final translation we check the JMBG, passport number, act number, dates, postcode, bank account and every other identifier. Unclear places are never guessed - we ask for a better scan or confirmation.
APR and Serbian company documents
The Serbian Business Registers Agency (APR) keeps registration records for companies and other business entities, and its official register description includes the PIB and other registration codes. Translations may cover the official name, legal form, registered address, activity code, director, representation rights, capital, PIB, registration number, decision date and recorded changes.
The official business name, brand and legal form are kept clearly apart. For Georgian into Serbian, an LLC, JSC, individual entrepreneur or other form is never replaced with a term that creates a different legal effect; where needed the original name stays in brackets. For large packages a glossary keeps the company name, positions and recurring terms uniform in every document. See registry extract translation.
Notarization, sworn court translators and apostille
In Georgia a notarized Serbian translation usually means preparing the translation and notarizing the translator's signature. This is used in many official cases, but not every Serbian body accepts it automatically; some procedures require a translation certified by a court translator authorised in Serbia (sudski tumač or sudski prevodilac), whose status can be checked in the Serbian Ministry of Justice's official electronic register. Banks, universities, municipalities, courts, the migration service and companies may all differ - sometimes a Georgian notarized translation is enough, sometimes the apostilled original should be translated in Serbia, and some offices accept English or a multilingual form.
An apostille confirms the origin of a public document and is not a translation. For a Georgian document going to Serbia, we first establish whether it needs international certification; if so, the apostille is placed on it and the Serbian translation includes both the main text and the apostille. According to the Serbian Ministry of Foreign Affairs' official explanation of legalization, apostilles in Serbia are issued by the competent basic court based on the location of the body that drew up, issued or certified the public document. The requirement may be lifted by an international agreement, bilateral practice, the recipient's rules or the nature of the document. See apostille and legalization.
Do not confuse three separate processes: international certification of the document, translation of its content, and notarization of the translator's signature. The combination a case needs is set by the receiving body.
Education, legal, medical and business Serbian
Education. School leaving documents, grade supplements, diplomas, academic records, student status letters, curricula and course descriptions, with the institution, programme, qualification, period, subjects, hours, credits and grades exact. Georgian and Serbian grading systems do not map directly, so grades are never converted by the translator; GPA conversion belongs to academic recognition. Legal. In a contract, deadlines, liability, amounts, competent court and termination terms stay exact; in a judgment, the case number, parties, claim, reasoning, operative part, appeal period and signature details. For a power of attorney we establish exactly what the representative may do - buy or sell property, act at a bank, manage a company, represent in court or request documents. A translation cannot replace legal review. See legal translation. Medical. Discharge summaries, diagnoses, lab and instrumental studies, surgery descriptions, medication lists, doses, allergies and recommendations, for treatment in Serbia, a second opinion or insurance. Abbreviations, units and chronology stay unchanged - one wrong decimal, dose or side can change the meaning. See medical translation. Business and technical. Offers, contracts, presentations, catalogues, technical briefs, manuals, invoices, shipping documents and correspondence, with currency, quantities, models, delivery terms, liability and deadlines exact. For regular projects a terminology base keeps the website, contracts, invoices and presentations in one consistent language. How a Serbian translation order runs

What sets the price and turnaround
We look at every page including attachments, the apostille, backs, seals and signatures; the direction; the recipient (a Serbian municipality, MUP, APR, university, bank, court, notary or Georgian office); the required script; the certification; your deadline or appointment; and the official name form from the passport or an earlier version. The price is by agreement and set after we see the file. See translation prices.
Most orders can start remotely from anywhere in Georgia or from Belgrade, Novi Sad or another city abroad. A fully legible digital copy is usually enough for an online version; notarization, binding to the original or a certified copy may require the physical document, and we tell you in advance only when that is really needed.

Can a Serbian translation be prepared in notarial form?
Yes. In Georgia the Serbian translation can be prepared and the translator's signature confirmed by a notary. Agree the accepted form with the specific Serbian office first - it may want a version by a court translator authorised in Serbia.
When is an apostille added to a Georgian document for Serbia?
First confirm the document category and the receiving institution in Serbia. If international certification is required, the Georgian public document is usually apostilled first and then translated into Serbian including the apostille; the recipient confirms the final instruction.
Should a Serbian document be translated into Cyrillic or Latin?
It depends on the recipient and the purpose. Cyrillic is especially important in Serbian official documents, but Latin Serbian is also widely used. Confirm the preferred script when ordering.
Can I send a photo or PDF?
Yes. A high-resolution photo or a single PDF works for the initial assessment, with every page, seal, signature, QR code, electronic signature detail and apostille fully visible.
Do you translate eUprava and Serbian civil registry documents?
Yes - eUprava electronic extracts, birth, marriage and death register entries, citizenship certificates and residence documents, with the issuing body, serial data and visible digital confirmation checked.
Do you translate APR and Serbian company documents?
Yes - Serbian Business Registers Agency extracts, registration decisions, articles, representation details, financial documents, PIB, registration number and other business material.
Can I receive the finished Serbian translation online?
Yes. The final file or a scan of the signed copy can be sent digitally. If a Serbian or Georgian office wants a certified paper version, delivery or collection is agreed separately.
