Short answer: send clear photos or a PDF of every page, with the translation direction, country of use, receiving body and your deadline. After seeing the file we tell you whether we can do it, the format, price, deadline and which certification step you may need.
"Latvian translator" can mean different needs: a Latvian birth certificate in Georgian, a Georgian diploma prepared in Latvian, or an interpreter for a meeting or video call. So we assess by document type, purpose, the recipient's requirement and the final form, not by language alone.
Latvian translation in both directions
Latvian into Georgian
- Certificates, register extracts, contracts
- Letters and diplomas
- Structure, numbers, dates and names kept
- Notes and seals described
Georgian into Latvian
- Personal, study and work documents
- Property and medical documents
- Business documents
- Terminology fitted to the purpose
Oral interpreting
- Meetings and video calls
- Business communication
- Date, length, topic and format needed in advance
- Arranged according to availability
If working through a relay language such as English becomes necessary, we say so before ordering. For official documents a direct language pair, a fully visible source and consistent terminology are best - and content is never changed to "sound nicer".
Which documents we translate
Latvian orders most often relate to migration, marriage, study, employment, business, court or administrative procedures. The list is a guide, not a limit - send anything else for assessment.
Personal, civil, study
Work, migration, legal
- Employment contract, work and income certificates, CV
- Invitations, consents, residence or family reunification applications
- Powers of attorney, court acts, contracts
- Property extracts, sale, gift and inheritance documents
Business, medical, technical
- Company extracts, articles, partners' decisions
- Invoices, bank certificates, financial and tax documents
- Form 100, diagnoses, discharge summaries, vaccination records
- Manuals, specifications and specialist texts
Latvian in official translation
Latvian is Latvia's state language and belongs to the Baltic group. It uses the Latin script but not just the English alphabet, and one missing mark in an official document can change a name, surname, place or term. Latvian translation is not swapping words for Georgian equivalents: grammatical forms, abbreviations, document terms and formal details must be read together.
Latvian nouns decline, so a person's name, an institution or a position can appear in different case forms. The translation identifies the base form so that one person or organisation is not read as several because of different endings. The same applies to dates and addresses: formats may differ from Georgian practice, but the information stays exact. Personal data is never "corrected" by assumption - if a name, number or date differs between documents, we note it and ask for a supporting document or the recipient's instruction.
Latvian letters, names and transliteration
The Latvian alphabet has the diacritics ā, č, ē, ģ, ī, ķ, ļ, ņ, š, ū, ž. They are not decoration: a macron marks vowel length, other marks set consonant pronunciation and spelling. On a poor photo ā can look like a, ņ like n and ģ like g, and in a name or place that error makes later searches and identification harder.
In Latvian documents foreign personal names may be rendered according to Latvian spelling and grammar, so the Latvian form does not always match the Latin entry in another country's passport - and that is not automatically an error. The Latvian Language Agency notes that rendering personal names in Latvian is governed by state language rules, with a dedicated names database for the purpose. We read the source form unchanged and never "restore" a preferred variant; if the document shows the original or Latin form separately, both may be reflected, and if identification needs another form, we ask for the passport and add a note only with confirmed data.
Checklist: name and surname (send the full document and, if needed, the passport data page); diacritics (a high-resolution scan or well-lit photo); personal code (full-size page, no cropped or covered digits); register and case numbers (every attachment, QR code or verification link); dates and places (the full context, heading and issuing body).
Preparing a Latvian document in Georgian
A document issued in Latvia often has a heading, issuing body, electronic signature note, registration number, page list or separate annex. Sending only the "main page" may not be enough - if the last page carries a signature, seal or electronic certification information, it belongs in the translation. We ask for every page, including one that looks blank but has a stamp or technical note.
Common material includes population data, civil status, migration, employment and company documents. The full Latvian name of an institution and its abbreviation are translated or described on first use, then one equivalent is kept; legal name, registration number and address are kept clearly apart. A translation does not confirm the validity of an electronic signature, but it reflects the note about the signature, time stamp or verification. If a Georgian office wants the electronic original in a specific form, a translation of a printed PDF may not be enough.
Preparing a Georgian document in Latvian
For a Georgian document in Latvian we first find out where it goes: a Latvian state body, university, employer, bank, court or private organisation. Recipients may differ on translation form, the original, the apostille or the translator's status, so "I need it for Latvia" is not enough for an exact quote.
Names follow the attached identity documents; if a Georgian certificate and the passport differ, we clarify before ordering. Addresses, authority names and positions are translated so a Latvian reader understands the function while the document's official origin is not lost, and an illegible seal is described neutrally rather than invented. In a multi-document package - family reunification, recognition of education, employment or business registration - send everything together so names and terms stay consistent.
Latvian translation, notarization and apostille
Translation, a notarial act and an apostille are three separate stages. The translation renders the content in another language. In Georgia a notarial act is performed by an authorised notary - for example certifying the translator's signature or another lawful form. An apostille certifies internationally the signature, capacity and seal on a public document; it does not check the content. See notarized translation.
Georgia and Latvia are both parties to the 1961 Hague Apostille Convention. According to the Latvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, a foreign public document presented in Latvia needs, depending on the case, legalization or an apostille in the issuing country. That does not mean every private letter, copy or application automatically needs one; the document category, issuer, purpose and recipient's instruction decide. Often the original is apostilled first and then both the original and the apostille sheet are translated. TARGMANEBI is not a notary and does not replace a state decision; we prepare the translation and arrange the relevant step with the authorised person involved. See apostille and legalization.
Before spending money on a translation or apostille, ask the receiving institution four things: which language the text must be in, whether it accepts an electronic version, whether it needs a notarial form, and whether the original must carry an apostille. A written instruction or official link is better than a verbal answer.
How we reduce the risk of errors
The most expensive mistake in an official document is often one digit, a missing diacritic, an inconsistent surname or an unprocessed annex. We check the full source first - heading, number, date, signature, seal, note and annex - and clarify cropped or blurred areas before ordering. Name, surname, date of birth, personal code, registration number and address are compared with the source separately, and alternative forms are added only with a confirming document.
One institution, position or legal concept is rendered on one principle across the whole package; tables, sections, lists and order follow the source; the certification need is settled before translation; and although software may assist, names, figures, terms and form in the final official text are checked by a person. Machine translation can help you grasp general content, but not produce a submission-ready version.
How a Latvian translation order runs
Send the full file
Every page by WhatsApp or another agreed channel, shot from above without shadows, glare or cropped edges.
State the purpose
Direction, where it will be submitted, any list of requirements and your deadline.
Get the assessment
We set the volume, possible certification, price and real deadline; unclear entries are clarified first.
Translation and delivery
The text is translated, checked and prepared in the agreed electronic or physical form.
Price and turnaround for Latvian translation
A single fixed rate is often misleading: a one-page standard certificate and a complex judgment of the same length are not the same work. Volume, direction, subject, tables, handwriting, seals, scan quality, formatting, urgency and certification all count, and linked documents need names and terms reconciled across the package. The price is by agreement and quoted after we see the full file. See translation prices.
Our office is at 118 Davit Aghmashenebeli Ave, Tbilisi, but you do not need to visit - "online" here means remote ordering, file exchange and agreement, not an uncertified machine translation. Personal documents contain sensitive data, so send only the pages and supporting documents actually needed, through a direct channel rather than a public chat or social network.
Tell us where the Latvian document will be submitted and by when - we will clarify the format, certification step, price and deadline in advance.
Call: 501 113 200Frequently asked questions about Latvian translation
Can a Latvian document be translated into Georgian online?
Yes. Send clear photos or scans of every page, the country of use and whether you need a certified paper version. If the office needs the original or a physical certification, we agree the delivery step in advance.
Why does a name in a Latvian document differ from the passport?
Latvian may render foreign names by Latvian spelling and grammar rules, so the form can differ from another passport's Latin entry. We keep the source form and add a documented alternative form where needed.
Must a Latvian translation be notarized?
No - the receiving body decides. Sometimes a professional translation is enough; otherwise notarization of the translator's signature, an apostille or a specific format may be required.
Is the apostille done before or after translation?
It depends on the issuing country, the recipient and which document must be certified. Often the original is apostilled first and then both are translated, but confirm with the recipient.
Will you start if Latvian letters are unclear in the scan?
Guessing unclear letters is bad practice. We ask for a clearer scan, another copy or a supporting document first - especially for ā, ē, ī, ū, ģ, ķ, ļ, ņ and similar marks.
Can you arrange a Latvian interpreter for a video call?
It depends on the date, length, topic and format. Send the meeting time, platform, number of participants and terminology so we can check a specialist's availability.
What sets the price and deadline?
Word count, complexity, scan quality, tables and seals, direction, terminology, urgency and certification. An exact offer is possible only after seeing the full file.
