You need a Swedish translator when a document issued in Sweden is used in Georgia, when Georgian material goes to a Swedish state body, university, employer, bank or other organisation, or when business and legal communication between the two countries must be exact. We keep the document's structure, terminology and official data as precise as possible.
Swedish translation most often concerns population register certificates, family status papers, migration applications, employment, education and medical records. Mechanical transfer is not enough: the translator must know what a Swedish term means, which data is the core of the document, how names are written and which seal, note or attachment belongs in the final translation.
Swedish translation in both directions
One order may be a one-page passport copy or personbevis, another a multi-page contract, court document, medical history or company file. From Swedish we pay special attention to official terms, personal numbers, date formats, addresses, agency names and administrative entries; into Swedish, Georgian legal and administrative realities are explained so a Swedish reader understands the document's content and function.

Skatteverket personbevis and population register certificates
Skatteverket is the Swedish Tax Agency, which is also responsible for the population register. A personbevis confirms certain registered data and may be used to prove address, family status, personal number, citizenship or other information. Which data it contains depends on why it was requested, so the translation shows everything in the document and adds nothing that is not there.
According to Skatteverket, the personbevis must be chosen by who will receive it and what data they need. Some can be printed directly from the e-service, while a version with a spouse's, registered partner's or other family members' data may need to be ordered by post. If you do not know the exact form name, ask the recipient which data must appear - a translation cannot turn the wrong personbevis into the right one.
An English Extract of the Population Register is available. For foreign authorities Skatteverket also describes signed and stamped versions: the Family registration document, the ordinary extract and the Extract from the Population Register - 120, which may include the person, spouse or partner, parents and children. Sweden does not issue international birth and marriage certificates as some countries do, so this extract is often used to prove those facts. The English certificate cannot have extra information added by hand; if other data is needed, order the relevant Swedish personbevis and translate it. An English version does not automatically cancel a Georgian translation in Georgia - the Georgian recipient decides.
In a personbevis we translate the title, full name, personnummer or samordningsnummer (coordination number), registered address, family links, citizenship, place of birth, date of issue and electronic or signed certification. Upload every page, including the back, annexes, QR code and electronic certification.
Apostille and legalization of Swedish documents
Apostille and translation are different procedures: the translation renders content in another language; the apostille confirms the signature, seal or signatory's authority on a public document. Official Swedish sources state that apostilles in Sweden are issued by a Notary Public (notarius publicus), not by the police or the Ministry for Foreign Affairs - according to the Government Offices, only Notaries Public have issued them since 2005. The chain needed to use a Swedish document in Georgia depends on the document type.
The safest order is often: obtain the correct Swedish document, find out whether it needs an apostille, then translate the whole document including the apostille text. Some recipients want only a certified translation, some an apostilled original with a translation, some a specific kind of copy. For a Georgian document used in Sweden, check whether the office accepts the Georgian original with a certified Swedish or English translation and whether an apostille is needed. See apostille and legalization.
Documents for Migrationsverket
Migrationsverket cases often involve a work permit, residence, family reunification, citizenship or another migration process. Documents must agree: name and surname the same everywhere, dates consistent, family members' status and relationships clear. From Georgian into Swedish we translate birth and marriage certificates, divorce documents, court decisions, criminal record certificates, employment contracts, employer letters, bank statements, income certificates and housing documents.
Migrationsverket's current instructions repeatedly state one basic rule: documents must be in Swedish or English; if a document is translated, the translation must be certified and a copy of the original-language document attached. This appears in procedures for living with a partner, work, study and long-term residence - but always read the checklist for your specific application rather than carrying one process's rule over to another. We do not change content or add legal assessments; if a document has an error, a different transliteration or an unclear entry, we tell you so you can check it with the issuing body.
Certified translation and the auktoriserad translator
In Sweden, an auktoriserad translator is a translator authorised by Kammarkollegiet (the Legal, Financial and Administrative Services Agency), which runs professional examinations, supervises authorised interpreters and translators and publishes a national searchable register by language pair and person. Kammarkollegiet is not a translation agency and does not assign translators; clients contact a registered specialist directly.
Swedish authorisation and notarization of a translation in Georgia are not the same procedure. A Georgian notarization usually certifies the translator's signature, while a Swedish office may mean a certified translation or a translator authorised by Kammarkollegiet. Tell us not just "it is for Sweden" but which institution, application and requirement text you have, and we will help you choose the right form. See notarized translation.
Simple distinction: a Georgian notarization, a Swedish authorised translator's status and an apostille are three different things. The combination you need is set by the document type and the recipient's written requirement.
Swedish letters, names and dates
Swedish uses å, ä and ö, which can be essential in a person's name, surname, city or street, and dropping or changing them in an official translation is wrong. If the passport already gives the name in Latin letters, the translation follows the passport form - especially important when one person's documents come from different countries. For Georgian names in Swedish, one form is kept; the translator never invents a third variant between the passport and an older document, so please send the passport page with the Latin entry.
Swedish dates are often written YYYY-MM-DD, and the personnummer contains digits linked to the date of birth. The format is kept clear so swapped numbers never create a wrong date, and amounts, period dates, case numbers, organisation numbers and bank details are copied exactly.
Education, employment, medical, legal and business texts
Education and work. School certificates, diplomas, transcripts, curricula, employment certificates, references, CVs and professional certificates, with qualification level, study period, grading, credits and hours kept. From Swedish we also translate arbetsgivarintyg (employer certificate), anställningsavtal (employment contract), lönebesked (payslip) and tjänstgöringsintyg (service certificate), with position, period, salary, hours, contract type and employer data exact. Medical and social. Doctor's reports, discharge summaries, test results and prescriptions, with diagnosis, symptoms, procedures, drug names, doses, allergies and lab values checked. Letters from Försäkringskassan, insurers, clinics or employers about sick leave, compensation, work capacity, costs or rehabilitation are translated too. See medical translation. Legal and business. Contracts, judgments, powers of attorney, articles, shareholder agreements and formal claims use consistent terms, with party names, organisation numbers, amounts and deadlines unchanged. For business clients we translate offers, invoices, bank certificates, presentations, product descriptions, website texts and correspondence; marketing text may need localisation rather than a literal version. See legal translation.Notarized Swedish translation in Georgia
A notarized Swedish translation is often needed for a court, the Public Registry, the Public Service Hall, a bank, a university or an embassy. In Georgian practice notarization usually certifies the translator's signature, not the content of the foreign document, and the exact form depends on the document and requirement. For a notarized translation we need every part of the document - apostille, seal, stamp, signature, QR code, back and annexes - because a translation made from an incomplete scan may miss exactly the part with legal weight.
You can often send the document electronically for a remote assessment and bring the original or a proper copy at the certification stage; if only an informational translation is needed, the final file can be received electronically. See notarization.

Price and turnaround for Swedish translation
A Swedish translation cannot be priced without seeing the document - a one-page personbevis and a multi-page judgment are different jobs. Volume, tables, handwriting, complex terminology, formatting, urgency and notarization all count. The price is by agreement; in the assessment we say which pages must be translated, whether annexes are included, when the work will be done and how you will receive it. See translation prices.
Order from Tbilisi or any Georgian city - Batumi, Kutaisi, Rustavi, Gori - with the first assessment online. Our office is at 118 Davit Aghmashenebeli Ave; for urgent work or a notarial act on a specific day, agree it in advance. Check that a PDF is not password-protected and every page opens; avoid shadows, glare, low resolution and cropped edges in photos, since small print and codes in Swedish documents can matter.

Call: 501 113 200Frequently asked questions about Swedish translation
Can a Swedish translation be notarized?
Yes, a translation in either direction can be prepared for notarization. The form depends on the document type and the recipient's requirement, so tell us the document's purpose when ordering.
Can you translate a Skatteverket personbevis into Georgian?
Yes - personbevis, population registration certificates and other Skatteverket letters and extracts. Send every page, including any apostille or extra certification.
Does a Georgian document for Sweden always need an apostille?
Not always. It depends on the Swedish office, the document type and the procedure - an apostille, a certified translation and a copy of the original, or just a translation. The receiving organisation gives the final answer.
Is a photo or PDF enough?
For price and deadline, yes. For official certification, the original or a proper copy may be needed. The photo must be sharp, with the full page visible.
How are the Swedish letters å, ä and ö handled?
Words are translated by meaning, while names are checked against the passport's Latin entry. Consistent transliteration matters, so a passport copy is often essential.
Do you translate documents into Swedish for Migrationsverket?
Yes - civil acts, work and income certificates, family ties, housing, court and other attachments. Check whether your application wants Swedish, English or either.
If I have a Skatteverket document in English, do I still need a Georgian translation?
It depends on the Georgian recipient. An English version is sometimes enough, but a Georgian state or private organisation may require a Georgian translation, so check first.
