You need a Thai interpreter when a document issued in Thailand is to be used in Georgia, or a Georgian paper has to go to a Thai authority, university, company, bank or private person. Translating the words is not enough here: attention goes to the Thai script, the Latin spelling of names, the Buddhist calendar, 13-digit personal numbers, house registration data, official seals and the issuing body.
TARGMANEBI translates from Thai into Georgian and from Georgian into Thai - personal, civil, immigration, education, business, banking, medical and legal material. Where needed the translation is prepared for notarization, and the form of the document is matched in advance to the requirement it will serve. In a Thai paper even a small detail matters: a tone or vowel mark, the order of given name and surname, a Buddhist Era year, a registration code and the document type must all be reflected unchanged and consistently.
Main Thai translation services
The service covers short certificates and personal papers as well as multi-page contracts, company extracts, court material and medical histories. For each order we find out in which country and at which institution the document will be submitted, since the form of translation, certification and extra procedures depend on that purpose.

Thai script and why it is hard to translate
Thai script is an independent system in which spaces between words are not used the way they are in Georgian or European languages. The text contains consonants, vowel signs and tone marks that may sit above, below or beside a character. On a poor photo, losing them creates a risk of misreading a word or a name.
In an official translation the main text is not the only thing that matters: handwritten entries, round and rectangular seals, side notes, cancelled fields and annexes count too. If a symbol is damaged or covered, the translator must not "guess" it; the place needs a better scan or the client's explanation.

Civil registration: amphoe, khet and BORA
Population and civil registration in Thailand is linked to the Department of Provincial Administration and the Bureau of Registration Administration. In the provinces the service is usually provided through the อำเภอ (amphoe), the district office, and in Bangkok through the เขต (khet) district offices. The exact office name on the document stays in the translation, as it identifies the issuing body.
For one event there may be a certificate, a register extract or an official English version, so a generic "certificate" heading is not enough. The translation must show whether the document is an original certificate, a certified copy, a register extract or an electronic document.
The birth certificate is สูติบัตร (suti-bat), the marriage certificate ใบสำคัญการสมรส, and divorce may appear as a divorce certificate or a register entry. Each form has different fields for parents, spouses, witnesses, the registrar and the place of registration. According to the Thai consular service, several dozen types of official documents can also be issued in English at district offices; an English version makes the work easier, but a Georgian translation and certification may still be required in Georgia. See birth certificate translation.
ทะเบียนบ้าน, often called Tabien Baan, is the house registration document. It is not just proof of address: it may show the house code, address, head of household, registered persons with their 13-digit numbers, relationships, dates of birth, nationality and moving-in and moving-out records. The table structure must be preserved - if several people are listed, placing one line in the wrong position can attach another person's data - so the house register is processed with a visual structure check as well as the text.
สูติบัตร and ทะเบียนบ้าน
- Birth certificate: child, parents, place of birth and 13-digit number linked exactly
- House registration: house code, address, members and each person's entry
บัตรประจำตัวประชาชน and ใบสำคัญการสมรส
- National ID card: Latin name, personal number, validity
- Marriage certificate: spouses' names, place, date and registrar
หนังสือรับรองนิติบุคคล
- Company certificate
- Company number, directors, signing authority
- DBD data
ID numbers, names, titles and Buddhist Era dates
The Thai ID card shows the citizen's name in Thai and Latin script, the 13-digit personal number, date of birth, address, issue and expiry dates. The personal number is never translated or reformatted at will; its digit sequence stays exactly the same. After birth registration a Thai citizen may be assigned a 13-digit number that recurs across state documents; if numbers differ between papers, the source must be checked before finishing the translation, not one variant silently "corrected".
Thai documents may carry a title with the name, such as นาย (Mr), นาง (Mrs) or นางสาว (Miss). These are sometimes part of the field and must not be dropped. The main control source for the Georgian name and surname is the Latin spelling in the valid passport. There may be more than one possible Latin transliteration, so the translator does not create a "nicer" or more phonetic version if the passport says otherwise; company, street and district names are also best checked against the English entry on the document. See passport translation.
Official Thai documents often give the year in the Buddhist Era, abbreviated พ.ศ. The difference from the Gregorian year is usually 543 - for example, 2569 BE corresponds to 2026. Automatic subtraction is not enough, though; the context and the document's period of issue must be checked. We never change the original date: the document's year stays, with the Gregorian equivalent in brackets where needed - especially for birth, marriage, card validity and company registration dates.
Immigration, education, company, finance and legal papers
Immigration. Immigration material may include TM.7 (extension of temporary stay), TM.8 (re-entry permit), TM.30 (notification of a foreigner's residence) and other forms, with passport number, visa category, entry date, address and sponsor or host details. Besides numbers and dates, the translation must state the form's status - a filled application, a receipt, a permit, a notification or just a blank form - and must not suggest an application was approved if the document does not confirm it. Education. Thai diplomas, certificates, grade sheets and university letters often carry the programme's English name, but parts of subjects, notes and academic status may be in Thai only. Credits, grades, semesters, the degree title and the institution's official name are kept. Thai legalisation instructions for private education institutions may require prior certification by the Ministry of Education or the institution itself, so for a diploma used abroad we first check whether translation alone is enough. See diploma translation. Company. Thailand's Department of Business Development (DBD) runs legal entity registration and business information systems. Company documents may include the juristic person certificate, objects, directors, signing authority, capital, shareholder list and financial statements. DBD offers an electronic English Business Registration Certificate, verifiable by reference number or the PDF's digital signature; keeping those verification details in the translation is useful, but they do not remove the need for a Georgian translation. Tax and bank. According to the Revenue Department, a separately issued taxpayer identification number has 10 digits, while an individual may in some cases use the 13-digit civil registration number, so 10-digit and 13-digit numbers must never be swapped. In bank statements, income letters and tax forms we keep the currency, partial masking of account numbers, period boundaries, debit and credit entries and decimals, with the baht symbol and amounts in words checked separately. See bank statement translation. Property, legal and medical. A property transaction may involve a land document, condominium ownership certificate, sale contract, proof of payment and power of attorney; the translation must distinguish owner, transferor, buyer, authorised person and property identifiers. In court decisions the operative part, deadlines, parties' status and case number matter, and repeated legal formulas are not shortened if they are part of the legal meaning. Medical documents may mix Thai text, English abbreviations and Latin names; dose, unit, date and procedure come over unchanged, and illegible handwriting or a damaged seal is never turned into an unconfirmed medical fact. See medical translation.Marriage to a foreigner, apostille and legalisation
When a marriage with a foreigner is registered in Thailand, a foreign document confirming marital status or capacity to marry is often required. According to official guidance, a certificate in a foreign language may need a Thai translation and certification by the Department of Consular Affairs. For a Georgian document prepared in Thai, first decide whether it must be certified in Georgia, at a Thai mission or after arriving in Thailand; having a translation does not replace legalisation of the original. See marriage certificate translation.
Thailand deposited its instrument of accession to the Hague Apostille Convention on 30 June 2026. That is an important change, but depositing the instrument does not mean the apostille took effect the same day with every country and in every procedure - the Convention has legal stages for entry into force and for relations between states. So we do not rely on the phrase "Thailand is already in the apostille system": for the date of each order we check whether the apostille applies between Thailand and the receiving country, or whether Department of Consular Affairs legalisation and diplomatic or consular certification are still needed. See apostille and legalization.
Notarization in Georgia usually confirms the translator's signature or another circumstance provided by law. It does not confirm that the seal of the Thai issuing body has passed every international step of authentication, so a "notarized translation" and "legalisation of a foreign document" are different processes. The Department of Consular Affairs runs legalisation separately; official use may require prior certification of the original or copy, translation, then consular legalisation, in an order set by the document's origin and destination. See notarization.
Quality control starts with comparing parallel documents: passport, ID card, house register, birth certificate and official English version. Personal and passport numbers, register codes, Buddhist Era and Gregorian years, district names, the sealing authority and page count are checked separately, and any QR code or electronic reference number stays identifiable in the translation.
How a Thai translation order runs
Send the file
Clear photos or a PDF of every page, plus where the document will be submitted.
Requirements set
We check the language, document type, pages, certification and final form.
Translation and control
The text is prepared and names, numbers, dates, seals and terms are checked.
Delivery
An electronic file or, as agreed, a notarized paper version.
Scan quality, deadline and price
The photo must show all four edges, every page, the back, seals, signatures, QR code and page number. Small Thai marks are easily lost in shadow or low resolution, so hold the phone parallel to the document with sharp focus. Send multi-page documents in the right order, and both sides of a passport or ID card. A photo is enough for the preliminary estimate, but a specific certification may require the original.
The price of a Thai translation is not set by page count alone: text density, handwritten entries, tables, technical terms, number of seals, editing into Thai and notarization all count. The price is by agreement, with a firm quote and deadline after we see the document. A short standard certificate is usually quicker than a court case, medical history or multi-page company package, and for urgent work translator and notary availability must be confirmed. Assessment and most of the translation can be done remotely; paper or notarized versions can be collected at our office at 118 Davit Aghmashenebeli Ave, Tbilisi. See translation prices.
Send a clear photo or PDF of the Thai document. We will check the pages, document type and possible certification route and give you an exact price and deadline.

Can a Thai document translation be notarized?
Yes. In Georgia a translation from Thai into Georgian or Georgian into Thai can be prepared for notarization. The final form is chosen by the requirement of the authority where it will be submitted.
Can a Thai document be assessed from a photo or PDF?
Yes. Clear photos or a PDF of every page, with text, seals, signatures, QR code and edges visible, are enough for a preliminary estimate. The original may be needed later for the official process.
Are ทะเบียนบ้าน and the birth certificate the same document?
No. ทะเบียนบ้าน is the house and population registration record, while สูติบัตร confirms the fact of birth. They differ in purpose and data structure and are translated separately.
How is the Buddhist Era year rendered?
The original year is kept exactly, and the matching Gregorian year is added in brackets where needed so the date is clear to the recipient.
Must the Latin spelling of a Thai name match the passport?
In an official translation the name and surname should match the Latin entry in the valid passport. If documents differ, we compare them all first and never create a new variant without agreement.
Is a Thai document now apostilled or legalised?
Thailand deposited its accession to the Apostille Convention on 30 June 2026, but accession and practical entry into force are not the same moment. The route in force for a specific date and receiving country must be checked in advance.
Can the English version of a Thai company extract be used?
Some DBD business certificates are issued in English and verified electronically. Even so, a Georgian translation, certification or extra authorisation may still be required in Georgia.
