Chinese Translation - Chinese to Georgian and Georgian to Chinese

China is one of Georgia's largest trading partners, and most Chinese translation work here follows the goods: contracts with suppliers, invoices and packing lists, certificates of origin and conformity, technical specifications and equipment manuals. Alongside it come students, patients and families with personal documents. TARGMANEBI translates between Chinese and Georgian for all of these and chooses the right script and terminology for each.

This page covers written translation. For an interpreter at negotiations, a factory visit or a meeting, see the Chinese interpreter page.

Written Chinese is the same language for mainland China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau and Singapore, but it is written in two scripts and uses noticeably different terminology in places. Before translating into Chinese we ask where the text will be read; before translating from Chinese we note which script and region the document comes from.

Personal and academic

Chinese into Georgian

Chinese documents come into Georgian for Georgian customs, the Revenue Service, the Public Registry, banks, courts and the companies that buy from Chinese suppliers. Contracts, certificates and technical documents are translated in full, with every figure, unit, model number and date checked against the original.

Chinese personal documents are often issued as notarial certificates by a Chinese notary office rather than as direct civil status records. We translate the certificate as a whole, including the notary's statement and seal descriptions, so the Georgian office sees exactly what was certified.

Georgian into Chinese

Georgian documents go into Chinese for Chinese partners, universities, embassies and authorities: company documents for opening a relationship with a supplier, product descriptions and certificates for Georgian exports, diplomas and transcripts for students.

Georgian names are written in Chinese characters by sound, and there is no single official system for doing so. We give the Latin passport spelling alongside and, where a Chinese form of the name already exists in earlier documents, we use that form so everything matches.

If your Chinese partner already uses a Chinese name for your company or product, send it to us. We will use the same name so contracts, invoices and certificates all match.

Chinese translation for export and import

Imports from China are cleared by Georgian customs on the basis of the invoice, the packing list, the transport documents and, for many goods, certificates of origin and conformity. A translation that renders the product name or the model number differently from the invoice creates questions at customs; we keep them identical across the set.

For Georgian exports - wine, mineral water, food products, nuts - Chinese buyers and authorities need product descriptions, labels, certificates and contracts in Chinese. We translate them with the terminology Chinese importers expect and in the script used in the destination market.

Technical, medical and pharmaceutical Chinese

Technical. Much of the equipment used in Georgian construction, energy and manufacturing comes with Chinese documentation. Manuals, specifications, drawings and test reports are translated with consistent terminology: one component, one name, throughout the document. See technical translation. Medical and pharmaceutical. Registration dossiers, leaflets, certificates of analysis and medical reports, with active substances, doses and units checked separately. See medical translation. Legal. Contracts, powers of attorney, company documents and court decisions, with the terms of Chinese law rendered precisely. See legal translation.

Chinese translation for education

Georgian students applying to Chinese universities, often with a scholarship, need diplomas, transcripts, recommendation letters and sometimes medical forms translated. Students returning from China need their Chinese diplomas and transcripts in Georgian for recognition and employment.

In both cases each subject, credit and grade is translated in full. Chinese transcripts often use percentage or four-point scales, which we reproduce as given without converting them.

Mandarin, Simplified and Traditional Chinese

Mainland China and Singapore use Simplified characters; Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau use Traditional characters. Terminology also differs, particularly in legal, technical and computing vocabulary. A translation into Chinese is prepared in the script and terminology of the place where it will be used.

Standard written Chinese corresponds to Mandarin. Documents from Hong Kong occasionally include Cantonese expressions, which we identify and translate accordingly. If you are not sure which script your partner needs, tell us the city, and we will decide.

Chinese translation with notarization and apostille

For official use in Georgia a Chinese translation is notarized. China joined the Apostille Convention in 2023, so public documents between mainland China and Georgia are now generally apostilled instead of legalized; Hong Kong and Macau have used apostilles for longer. See notarization and apostille and legalization.
