Translation Bureau in Kutaisi

Kutaisi is the second city of Georgia and the only one that has a low-cost airport, a free industrial zone, a large state university and a long history of labour migration to Europe all at once. Those four things form a single queue at the bureau: the flight is tomorrow, the consulate appointment is the day after, the dean's office wants a document, the company registration is closing. TARGMANEBI in Kutaisi, at Nikea St 18, clears that queue from the paperwork side: translation, notarization, apostille and interpreting.

The translation bureau in Kutaisi serves Imereti, Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti. A Kutaisi order differs from a Tbilisi one in content rather than in quality: there are fewer corporate contracts here and far more of the documents a person translates for their own life - a criminal record certificate for a Greek permit, a birth certificate for a child's school in Italy, a diploma for a Polish employer, a power of attorney so that a brother can handle the flat left behind in Kutaisi.

Kutaisi International Airport gave the city what only Tbilisi had before: direct and cheap routes to dozens of European cities. That changed the rhythm of the paperwork too. People buy a ticket two weeks ahead and arrive at the consulate appointment with the package already prepared - and that package is often needed on the same day it reaches the bureau. This is why a Kutaisi order comes back not with one deadline but with two: the normal one, and the one that will make the appointment.

What is translated in Kutaisi most often

The queue splits into three streams, and each has its own requirement about the form the translation has to take: the bureau stamp, notarization, or an apostille.

Visas and permits

  • Criminal record certificate - Greece, Italy, Poland, Germany
  • Bank statement and proof of income
  • Employment contract and employer invitation
  • Marriage and birth certificates for family reunification
  • Medical certificate and vaccination record

Study and qualifications

  • School certificate and transcript of grades
  • Diploma and diploma supplement
  • University confirmation of student status
  • Professional certificates and training records
  • Motivation letter and references

Property and family

  • Power of attorney for a flat, a car, a bank operation
  • Registry extract and sale contract
  • Parental consent for a child to travel
  • Inheritance documents from abroad
  • Court decision and divorce certificate

One rule settles most Kutaisi cases on the spot: a consulate or a foreign authority does not ask for a translation, it asks for a specific form of one. Greece takes the Georgian criminal record certificate with an apostille, a Polish employer is often satisfied with the bureau stamp, an Italian municipality needs it notarized. Before we start translating we ask who the document is for - that single question often saves a week and one repeat payment.

Labour migration from Imereti - a package that must not fall apart

Leaving Imereti for Europe is not one document but a package that fills up over years: first the criminal record certificate and the diploma for the permit, then the marriage certificate for family reunification, then the child's birth certificate for school, and finally a power of attorney so that someone can deal with the flat back in Kutaisi.

The most common mistake in that package is not technical but sequential: the spelling of the name. If the criminal record says Mariam, the contract says Mariami and the birth certificate says Mariam-i, the foreign authority sees three different people. So on a first order in Kutaisi we write down how the name appears in the passport, and every later translation comes out in that same spelling - years later too.

The second recurring issue is dates. A Georgian document often writes the date in words, a European form wants digits, and the Italian and American formats contradict each other. The editor compares every date, number and amount against the original, because this is exactly where documents get sent back most often.

Akaki Tsereteli State University and foreign students

The student flow in Kutaisi runs both ways. A Georgian graduate translates a diploma and supplement to apply for a European master's programme, where an English translation and often an apostille are required. A foreign student does the opposite - translating their own school certificate, diploma and medical certificate into Georgian for enrolment, residence and a student visa.

In both directions the same place causes trouble: the names of subjects and the conversion of hours or credits. A diploma supplement cannot be translated mechanically, because a foreign university reads the subject for its content, not word for word. We hand the supplement to a translator who works on educational documents, and if a student has several documents, the same person does all of them so the terminology does not drift.

Students normally have a deadline set by the admission system, so we plan these orders against a calendar: which day is the upload deadline, which day the notary is needed, and which day the Public Service Hall visit for the apostille has to happen.

The free industrial zone and foreign companies

The Kutaisi free industrial zone brought foreign capital into the city and, with it, bilingual paperwork. A company registered in the zone begins its life with translation: the founder's extract, the articles of association and a power of attorney from a foreign language into Georgian, notarized. Then the daily flow starts - contracts, invoices, certificates, employment contracts for foreign managers.

With such a company we open a terminology base from the day of registration: the company name, product names, job titles and the names of state authorities are fixed once and then carried into every document in the same form. That matters when the same contract goes first to a bank, then to customs and finally to a court.

Local small business has its own flow too: guest houses and hotels on the Prometheus, Sataplia, Gelati and Bagrati routes, which need menus, house rules and contracts in English, Russian and often Arabic.

Languages in Kutaisi orders

The statistics here differ from Tbilisi. Greek and Italian are far more frequent than the national average, because the emigration from Imereti historically went to those two countries. Polish and German follow - newer directions that the airport's direct routes strengthened.

English remains the largest language, because diplomas, medical documents and international contracts move in English. Russian is common in property and inheritance matters, Turkish in trade and construction contracts, while Chinese and Arabic arrived with the zone and with tourism.

All of these languages are in one list, and a Kutaisi order reaches the same translators who work on Tbilisi orders. The difference is only in logistics, never in quality.

The office at Nikea St 18 and working online

The Kutaisi office is at Nikea St 18. Coming in person is worth it when an original has to be handed over or a notarized paper collected. In every other case there is no need to move paper at all: photograph the document flat, in good light, so that all four corners and every stamp are visible, and send it by email or WhatsApp.

Working online matters especially for Kutaisi, because coming into the city from an Imereti village or from Racha takes half a day. You receive the file the same or the next day, and if notarization is needed you either collect the paper at the Kutaisi office or have a courier bring it to your address.

If you are not sure whether you need notarization or the bureau stamp is enough, call before you send the document. That single call often changes both the deadline and the price.

How to order a translation in Kutaisi

1

Send the document and the deadline

A photo or PDF by email to info@targmanebi.ge, or by WhatsApp. In the first message tell us the date you need it by and which country it is for - those two details settle the deadline and the form immediately.

2

We check what form the recipient needs

A consulate, a university, an employer or a Georgian authority each ask for something different. We tell you whether the bureau stamp is enough, whether notarization is required, or whether an apostille has to be added as well.

3

Translation and a check of every figure

A translator in the right field does the work, and an editor compares names, dates, numbers and amounts against the original. If you have several documents, one translator handles all of them.

4

File in the chat, paper at Nikea St 18

You receive the finished translation as a file. A notarized paper is collected at the Kutaisi office or delivered by courier. For an apostille we tell you the Public Service Hall timing in advance.

Price and turnaround in Kutaisi

Kutaisi and Tbilisi orders are on the same price list - there is no branch surcharge. Three things set the price: the language, the volume of the document and whether notarization is required. A standard one-page certificate is the cheapest; a diploma supplement or a medical discharge summary costs more, because the terminology and the checking of figures take longer.

Rough turnaround: certificates and statements - the same or the next day; a diploma with its supplement - one to two days; a medical discharge summary - two days; notarization adds half a day; an apostille depends on the Public Service Hall schedule. Urgent handling is a separate surcharge that is switched on only at your request and is visible in the quote in advance - the price does not change after the order is placed.

Our own mistake is corrected the same day, free of charge. If an authority returned a document because of the translation, send us the written refusal and we prepare it again at no extra cost.

Frequently asked questions - translation in Kutaisi

I need a criminal record certificate for Greece. Is the translation alone enough?

Usually not. Greece accepts the Georgian criminal record certificate with an apostille, so the order is: obtain the certificate, put the apostille on it at the Public Service Hall, then translate it into Greek and have the translation notarized. If you translate first and apostille afterwards, you often have to do everything again. Call before you start and we will tell you the sequence free of charge.

I do not live in Kutaisi, I am from a village. Do I have to come in person?

In most cases no. A photo of the document is enough: take it flat, in good light, with all four corners and every stamp visible. You receive the file by email or WhatsApp. Coming in person is needed only when the notary has to see the original or when you collect the notarized paper yourself - and even that we can send by courier.

Are the diploma and the supplement priced separately?

Yes, because they are two different documents and the supplement is usually several times longer than the diploma. It contains subjects, hours and grades, which take more time. On the other hand, if you order both together one translator does the work and the terminology matches exactly - which matters when a foreign university reads them side by side.

My name is spelled one way in the passport and differently in an old translation. What now?

The rule is that in every document the name must appear as it does in the passport. If an old translation used a different spelling and has already been submitted somewhere, tell us - we will see whether the old one needs correcting or whether it is enough to bring the new documents onto one consistent form. With us your spelling is recorded once and comes out the same years later.

I am registering a company in the free zone. What package do I need?

Usually the founder's extract, the articles of association and a power of attorney from the foreign language into Georgian, notarized. If the founder is abroad, their passport page as well. The package is normally ready within a week. After registration we open a terminology base for the company so that names and job titles come out identically in every later document.

I need it urgently - my consulate appointment is tomorrow.

Call 501 113 200 and say straight away what time the appointment is. A one or two page certificate received during working hours is prepared the same day. Notarization depends on the notary's schedule, so an order that arrives in the morning fits far better than one that arrives in the evening. An apostille cannot be done the same day - that is the Public Service Hall's timing and has to be planned ahead.

I am a foreign student and need documents in Georgian. In what form?

For enrolment and residence a notarized Georgian translation is usually required, and your own country's document should normally already carry an apostille issued there. If it does not, sort that out first - without it the Georgian authority will not accept the translation either. We handle the rest.

Kutaisi is the regional centre, but each town in Imereti, Racha and Guria has its own emphasis. Choose your city.
