Turkish Translation - Turkish to Georgian and Georgian to Turkish

Turkey is Georgia's neighbour, a major trading partner and, for many families, the place they go for medical treatment. That shapes the Turkish documents we see: clinic reports and invoices, export contracts and customs declarations, diplomas from Turkish universities, marriage certificates from mixed families. TARGMANEBI translates them between Turkish and Georgian and arranges the certification each recipient requires.

This page is about written translation. For an interpreter at a clinic consultation, a negotiation or a notary, see the Turkish interpreter page.

Two things decide how a Turkish translation is prepared: the direction and the recipient. A Georgian notary, a Turkish hospital, a customs broker in Sarpi and a university in Ankara each expect a different form. Tell us who will read the translation and we will prepare it for that reader.

Turkish into Georgian

Turkish documents come into Georgian for the Public Service Hall, banks, notaries, courts, clinics and employers. A marriage concluded in Turkey has to be registered here; a Turkish diploma has to be recognised; a Turkish company's power of attorney has to be accepted by a Georgian notary. In each case the Georgian reader compares the translation with Georgian templates, so we use the terms Georgian institutions recognise.

Turkish official documents have their own conventions: the population register records mother's and father's names, and a Turkish ID number appears on almost every paper. We carry these across exactly, keep the layout of registers and tables, and describe every stamp and signature where it appears.

Georgian into Turkish

Georgian documents go into Turkish for hospitals, universities, employers, courts and trading partners in Turkey. The translation follows Turkish official style and Turkish spelling rules, including the letters that have no English equivalent - ç, ğ, ı, İ, ö, ş and ü.

The dotted and dotless i deserve a word of their own. In Turkish, "I" and "İ" are different letters, and a Georgian name transliterated carelessly can end up spelled differently from the passport. We follow the Latin spelling in your passport for personal names and apply Turkish rules only to the text around them.

Turkish medical translation for treatment in Turkey

Many patients from Georgia are treated in Turkish clinics. Before the trip, the clinic needs the Georgian medical history in Turkish or English: diagnoses, test results, imaging reports, previous operations and current medication. After the treatment, the patient comes home with a Turkish discharge summary that the Georgian doctor and the insurer need in Georgian.

Both directions are translated by a translator with medical experience. Diagnoses, drug names, doses and reference ranges are checked against the original separately, and handwritten notes are deciphered rather than guessed. When a treatment date is set, tell us - a medical file is usually needed before the clinic confirms the appointment. See medical translation.

If a Turkish clinic sends you a cost estimate or a treatment plan, have it translated before you pay a deposit. It is short, quick to translate, and it is the document that says exactly what the price includes.

Contracts, powers of attorney, court decisions, company documents and notarial deeds are translated by a legal translator. Turkish legal terminology differs from Georgian in structure as well as in words - a Turkish "noter onaylı" document and a Georgian notarial act are not the same procedure - so where an institution has no direct equivalent we name it in the original and explain it in brackets.

Turkish courts and authorities often want the translation made or certified by a sworn translator (yeminli tercüman) and then notarized in Turkey. A translation made in Georgia is fully usable for Georgian recipients; for use inside Turkey, check with the recipient whether they will accept it or require a local sworn translation. See legal translation.

Trade, export, import and customs

Georgian-Turkish trade produces a steady flow of documents: supply contracts, price lists, invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin, quality and conformity certificates, customs declarations and correspondence with forwarders. Many of these are needed quickly, because a lorry is waiting at the border.

For regular exporters and importers we keep templates and a terminology base - product names, codes and contract clauses translated once and reused - so repeat documents are ready in hours. Figures, weights, HS codes and batch numbers are checked separately, because customs checks exactly those fields.

Turkish translation for education

Georgian students apply to Turkish universities, and graduates of Turkish universities return to Georgia to work. In the first case the school certificate, the diploma and the transcript go into Turkish, sometimes with an apostille; in the second, a Turkish diploma and transcript come into Georgian for recognition by the National Center for Educational Quality Enhancement. See diploma translation and school certificate translation.

Turkish translation with notarization

Georgian institutions accept a Turkish translation in notarized form. The notary certifies the translator's signature, which gives the translation its official standing. Turkey and Georgia are both parties to the Hague Apostille Convention, so a public document issued in one country can be apostilled for use in the other. See notarization and apostille and legalization.

How a Turkish translation order runs

1

Send the document

Photos or a PDF by WhatsApp or email. For medical files, send every page, including handwritten notes and the backs of pages with stamps.

2

Price and deadline

We confirm the price and the turnaround, and whether the recipient needs notarization, an apostille or a local sworn translation.

3

Translation and checking

A translator in the relevant field translates; names, ID numbers, figures and Turkish characters are checked against the original.

4

Delivery

The electronic version is sent as soon as it is ready; certified paper is collected in Tbilisi, Batumi or Kutaisi or sent by courier.

Price and turnaround for Turkish translation

The price is set after we see the document and depends on the direction, the volume, the subject and the certification. Invoices and certificates for trade are usually the quickest category; medical histories and contracts are quoted individually. See translation prices.

Standard personal documents are often ready within a day, notarization adds about half a day, and customs documents for regular clients can be turned round within hours. If a treatment date, a border crossing or a court hearing is fixed, give us the date in your first message.

Frequently asked questions about Turkish translation

A Turkish clinic wants my medical history. In Turkish or in English?

Ask the clinic - many large Turkish hospitals work in English with international patients, others want Turkish. We translate into either. Diagnoses, doses and test values are checked against the original separately.

I came back from treatment in Turkey with a discharge summary. What do I need in Georgian?

Usually the discharge summary, test and imaging results and the prescriptions, for your Georgian doctor, and the invoice if you are claiming from an insurer. For the doctor a translation with the bureau stamp is normally enough; the insurer may ask for notarization.

Will a Turkish court accept a translation made in Georgia?

Turkish courts and many Turkish authorities want a translation by a sworn translator in Turkey, notarized there. For use in Turkey, check the requirement first. For use in Georgia, our notarized translation is the standard form.

How do you handle Turkish letters in Georgian names?

Personal names follow the Latin spelling in your passport exactly. Turkish characters such as ı, İ, ş and ğ are used only where the Turkish text itself requires them, so names in the translation match your documents.

Can customs documents be translated the same day?

Usually yes, within working hours, with the bureau stamp. For regular shipments we keep templates, so only the dates, weights and numbers change.

Is an apostille needed between Georgia and Turkey?

Both countries are parties to the Apostille Convention, so where the recipient requires certification of a public document, an apostille is the usual route. Whether it is needed at all depends on the recipient; we confirm before the order.

Do you have offices near the Turkish border?

We have an office in Batumi, at Pirosmani St 18, as well as in Tbilisi and Kutaisi. Everything can also be done online, with courier delivery.
