Arabic Translation - Arabic to Georgian and Georgian to Arabic

Arabic connects Georgia with the Gulf states, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan and North Africa - through students at Georgian universities, patients, investors, workers and trading companies. Documents in Arabic often need more than translation: many of the countries involved require consular legalization, and the text itself runs right to left. TARGMANEBI translates between Arabic and Georgian and plans the certification route with you from the start.

This page covers written translation. For an interpreter at a meeting, a clinic or a notary, see the Arabic interpreter page.

We translate from and into Modern Standard Arabic, the language of official documents across the Arab world. Handwritten entries, local dialect in correspondence and country-specific legal terms are noted and handled separately, so that the translation reflects the document rather than a generic version of it.

Arabic into Georgian

Arabic documents come into Georgian mostly for Georgian universities, the Public Service Hall, the Public Registry, banks, notaries and clinics. Students from Arabic-speaking countries enrolling in Georgia need their school certificates and transcripts translated; investors need commercial licences and company documents; patients bring medical histories.

Arabic names, dates and numbers need particular care. Documents may use the Hijri calendar alongside or instead of the Gregorian one, Eastern Arabic numerals, and full chains of names including the father's and grandfather's. We reproduce all of them accurately, give Gregorian dates where the original uses Hijri ones, and match names to the Latin spelling in the passport.

Georgian into Arabic

Georgian documents go into Arabic for embassies of Arabic-speaking countries, employers in the Gulf, universities, courts and business partners. The translation is in formal Modern Standard Arabic, with terms matched to the recipient country where its legal vocabulary differs.

Georgian names are written in Arabic script by pronunciation, and the Latin passport spelling is given alongside, because Arabic script has no letters for several Georgian sounds and a name can be written in more than one way.

Tell us the country before we start. Documents for the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Egypt or Iraq follow different certification routes, and knowing the destination decides the order of steps.

Arabic translation for embassies, visas and consular legalization

Some Arabic-speaking countries, including Saudi Arabia, Oman, Bahrain, Morocco and Tunisia, are parties to the Apostille Convention and accept an apostille. Many others still require consular legalization: the document is certified in Georgia, then by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, then by the embassy of the destination country. The translation must fit into that chain at the right point.

The same applies in the other direction. An Arabic document for use in Georgia usually needs an apostille or legalization in its country of issue before it is translated here. We check the current status of the country concerned, because accession to the Convention does change. See apostille and legalization.

Right-to-left layout and document formatting

Arabic runs right to left, while Georgian and Latin text runs left to right. A translation into Arabic is laid out right to left, with numbers, dates, passport numbers and Latin names placed so they do not reverse or break across lines. A translation from Arabic follows the original's structure, so that each field can be matched with the source.

Tables, stamps and signatures are positioned as in the original. The result is a document that an Arabic-speaking official can read naturally and that a Georgian official can compare line by line with the source.

Legal, medical, business and technical Arabic

Legal. Contracts, powers of attorney, marriage contracts, inheritance documents and court decisions, with terms matched to the legal system of the country concerned. See legal translation. Medical. Medical reports, test results and prescriptions for patients travelling in either direction, with doses and drug names checked separately. See medical translation. Business, technical and financial. Commercial licences, agreements, tenders, specifications and financial statements for Gulf and North African partners. See technical translation and financial translation.

Which Arabic-speaking countries we prepare documents for

We regularly prepare documents for and from the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Algeria and Tunisia. Each has its own embassy requirements and its own preferred legal terminology, and we take both into account.

Documents from Iraq, including the Kurdistan Region, and from other countries where more than one language is used officially, are translated from the language they are actually written in. If a document is partly in Arabic and partly in another language, tell us and we will plan the translation accordingly.

Arabic translation with notarization

For official use in Georgia an Arabic translation is notarized. For use abroad, the notarized translation is then apostilled or legalized according to the destination country. See notarization.

Frequently asked questions about Arabic translation

Do you translate in both directions?

Yes, from Arabic into Georgian and from Georgian into Arabic, for personal, academic, legal, medical, business and technical documents.

Is an apostille enough for Arabic-speaking countries?

For some, such as Saudi Arabia, Oman, Bahrain, Morocco and Tunisia, yes. Many others still require consular legalization. We check the current status of your destination country.

How do you handle Hijri dates?

We reproduce the date as written and give the Gregorian equivalent in the translation, so that the Georgian reader can use it without conversion.

How are Arabic names written in Georgian?

From the Arabic form by pronunciation, with the Latin spelling from the passport alongside, so all documents can be linked to one person.

Do you translate documents from Iraq and Kurdistan?

Yes. Each document is translated from the language it is actually written in; tell us if a document mixes languages.

How long does it take?

A certificate is usually ready within a day or two. Legalization, if needed, adds time depending on the embassy.

Can I order from abroad?

Yes. Send the documents online and receive the translation by email; certified paper can be sent by courier.
