Czech Translation - Czech to Georgian and Georgian to Czech

The Czech Republic attracts Georgian students, workers and specialists, and most Czech translations from Georgia serve one of three purposes: recognising a Georgian qualification (nostrification), obtaining a work visa or employee card, or enrolling at a Czech university. Each has its own list of documents and its own expectations of the translation. TARGMANEBI translates between Czech and Georgian and prepares documents for each of these routes.

This page covers written translation. For an interpreter at a meeting, a notary or a medical appointment, see the Czech interpreter page.

Inside the Czech Republic, official translations are made by a court translator ("soudní překladatel") entered on the Ministry of Justice list, who attaches a translation clause and seal. Some procedures started from Georgia accept a translation certified here; others, including many nostrification procedures, expect a Czech court translator. We check the requirement of your office first.

Personal and specialist

Czech into Georgian

Czech documents come into Georgian when a Georgian office or a Georgian reader needs them: a nostrification decision or a Czech diploma brought home, a visa or employee card decision that the applicant must understand, a Czech court decision, a medical report after treatment, a contract with a Czech company.

Czech administrative decisions follow a fixed structure - operative part, reasoning, instruction on appeal - and the appeal deadline is often the most important sentence for the reader. We translate the whole decision, including those instructions.

Georgian into Czech

Georgian documents go into Czech for Czech universities, regional authorities that decide on nostrification, the Ministry of the Interior, employers and courts. The translation uses Czech official terminology and formats, and it reads as a Czech administrative text.

Your name is copied from the Latin spelling in your passport. Czech offices sometimes add the feminine "-ová" ending to women's surnames in their own records; in a translation of a Georgian document we keep the surname exactly as in the passport, which is what the law allows for foreign nationals.

For nostrification, send the diploma, the supplement and, if you have it, the syllabus of your programme. Czech authorities compare content, and the more complete the translated file, the fewer requests for additions.

Czech translation for nostrification and recognition

Nostrification ("nostrifikace") is the Czech procedure for recognising a foreign school certificate or university degree. Secondary qualifications are recognised by the regional authority; university degrees by a Czech public university or, in some cases, the relevant ministry. The file usually includes the diploma, the supplement or transcript with subjects and hours, and sometimes a description of the programme.

Every subject name, credit, hour and grade is translated consistently across the diploma, the supplement and any syllabus. The Georgian grading scale is stated as the original gives it. The Czech authority does the comparison; our job is to make sure nothing it needs is missing or ambiguous.

Czech translation for work visas and employee cards

Georgians working in the Czech Republic usually apply for an employee card, which combines a residence and a work permit. The application requires an employment contract or binding promise of employment, proof of qualifications for the job, proof of accommodation and, for some cases, a criminal record certificate.

We translate the Czech employer documents into Georgian so you understand the conditions, and your Georgian documents into Czech for the file. For jobs that require specific qualifications - drivers, welders, healthcare workers - the qualification documents are translated with job titles matched to Czech usage.

Czech translation for the embassy and visa procedures

Applications are lodged at the Czech embassy in Tbilisi, which publishes the documents required for each visa and card type. Most Georgian public documents in the file need an apostille, and the apostille is translated with the document. We work from the embassy's current checklist, not from a generic list.

For family reunification and long-term residence, birth and marriage certificates are needed, often together with a certificate of family status. We translate the whole package with one spelling of every name.

Legal, medical, technical and business Czech

Legal. Contracts, powers of attorney and court decisions, with consistent legal terminology. See legal translation. Medical. Hospital reports, test results and medical certificates, with doses and drug names checked separately. See medical translation. Technical and business. Czech engineering, automotive and glass industries supply equipment and know-how to Georgia. Specifications, manuals, offers and contracts are translated with consistent terminology. See technical translation.

Czech translation with notarization and apostille

For official use in Georgia a Czech translation is notarized. Georgia and the Czech Republic are both parties to the Apostille Convention, so Georgian public documents for the Czech Republic usually carry an apostille. See notarization and apostille and legalization.

If your Czech office requires a soudní překladatel, we tell you before the order, and we can prepare the apostilled originals so the Czech translator can work from them directly.

Frequently asked questions about Czech translation

Do you translate in both directions?

Yes, from Czech into Georgian and from Georgian into Czech, for education, work, personal, legal, medical and technical documents.

What is nostrification?

The Czech procedure for recognising a foreign school certificate or degree. It usually requires the diploma, the supplement or transcript and sometimes the syllabus, translated into Czech.

Do I need a soudní překladatel?

Many procedures inside the Czech Republic, including many nostrifications, require one. Some embassy procedures accept a translation certified in Georgia. We check your case first.

Which documents are needed for an employee card?

Typically the employment contract or promise of employment, proof of qualifications, proof of accommodation and the passport; some cases also need a criminal record certificate. The embassy checklist is the reference.

Will my surname get the "-ová" ending?

Not in our translation. We keep the surname exactly as in your passport, which is the correct form for a translated foreign document.

How long does a Czech translation take?

A certificate is often ready within a day or two; nostrification packages take longer. We confirm the deadline when we see the documents.

Can I order from the Czech Republic?

Yes. Send the documents online; we email the translation, and certified paper can be sent by courier.
