You need a Slovak translator to read a matrika act in Georgian, submit it in Georgia, or send a Georgian document to a Slovak state body, university, employer, bank, clinic or business partner. Slovak translation is not word swapping: name, surname, date of birth, identification number, address, document number, issuing authority, seal, signature and attachments must all agree.
Slovak diacritics - á, ä, č, ď, é, í, ĺ, ľ, ň, ó, ô, ŕ, š, ť, ú, ý, ž - matter especially, because losing a single character can change a person's or place's name. Before ordering we establish where the document will be used: in Georgia, in Slovakia, at an embassy, the police, a university, a court, a bank or a private company.
Slovak translation services in Georgia
We translate short certificates as well as contracts, court materials, medical histories, education packages, company extracts and financial statements. The method differs: a civil act needs maximum identity of data, a legal document the link between articles and obligations, a medical document the exact diagnosis, dose and test result.

Slovak civil registry - matrika and osobitná matrika
The Slovak civil registry service - matrika - records births, marriages and deaths and issues the official extracts. Civil facts that occurred abroad and concern a Slovak citizen may be entered in a special register - the osobitná matrika. So in a Slovak document what matters is not only the certificate title but which register made the entry and which authority issued it.
For a rodný list, sobášny list or úmrtný list we carry across the registration number, personal data, parents' names, place of marriage, previous surname, citizenship, death data and every additional note. If the document was obtained electronically or is a duplicate, that is noted. A partial photo missing the bottom of the page or the seal is not enough for an official translation.
Marriage, divorce and family status
Registering a marriage, family reunification or a change of surname in Slovakia may require a birth certificate, proof of citizenship or residence, proof that a previous marriage ended, a deceased spouse's death certificate, a final divorce decision and an identity document. The exact list of foreign documents is set by the specific registry or migration office.
We pay close attention to the maiden name, the surname taken on marriage, the status of a previous marriage and the note on a court decision becoming final. "Divorced", "marriage annulled" and "marriage terminated" can reflect different legal situations, so the translation follows the original wording rather than a free interpretation. The IOM Migration Information Centre in Slovakia lists the birth certificate, family status certificate, proof of permanent residence, citizenship document and, where relevant, divorce or death documents for foreigners marrying there; a marriage concluded abroad may need to be registered in the osobitná matrika before a Slovak marriage certificate is issued. See marriage certificate translation.
Residence and work documents for the Foreign Police
Residence cases for third-country nationals in Slovakia are handled by the relevant Foreign Police departments. Depending on the purpose - study, employment, business, family reunification or other grounds - you may need a passport, criminal record certificate, proof of accommodation, financial means, employment contract, school letter, health document or proof of family ties.
Deadlines and form are decisive: some certificates count as valid only for a limited time, others must carry an apostille, a certified copy or a full translation. Show us the official list or requirement letter as well as the document, so we never translate one page when the office also wants an attachment, the back or the apostille sheet. Explanatory paragraphs, data protection notes, electronic verification instructions and the legal basis of issue are all translated - partial translation only if the recipient confirms it in writing.
Apostille and legalization
An apostille verifies the signature, seal or official's authority on a public document under the Hague Convention; it does not replace the translation or confirm the facts. Slovakia assigns different competent bodies by document category: regional courts handle certain documents of notaries, district courts and official translators, while other categories may fall to the ministries of justice, interior or education, or a municipality. Going to the wrong body loses time, and a translation cannot do an apostille's job.
The usual order: obtain the official document, then any authentication or apostille, then translate the whole package - an apostille added after translation becomes a separate item to translate. The apostille number, date, issuer, seal and every attachment note go into the translation. Foreign civil documents used in Slovakia often need an apostille or consular legalization followed by an official Slovak translation. See apostille and legalization.
Apostille, notarization and translation are three different acts. One does not automatically replace another, so always confirm the final requirement with the receiving institution.
Notarized translation and Slovak official translators
In Georgia, a notarized Slovak translation usually means certifying the translator's signature or another appropriate notarial act. The notary does not check subject terminology - linguistic accuracy is the translator's responsibility - so the full translation is prepared and checked first, then the final form set: binding to the original, attachment to a certified copy or a separate translation. Double-sided documents show every side, and pages keep their order where a seal runs across two sheets.
Slovakia maintains a system of translators and interpreters registered for courts and state bodies, and the Ministry of Justice publishes a searchable register of official translators by language. A body may require an úradný preklad (official translation) by a translator on that register; a translation notarized in Georgia is not the equivalent of that status. So check the wording of the requirement - "certified translation", "official translation", "sworn translator", "úradný preklad" or simply a notarized translation. If it says "official translator certified by the Ministry of Justice of the Slovak Republic", a Georgian notarization of the translator's signature alone may not be enough.
Slovak and Czech are different in official documents
Slovak and Czech are close West Slavic languages but separate standards. Everyday mutual understanding is high, yet official documents differ in terminology, declension, spelling, names of institutions and legal wording. Treating a Czech text as Slovak, or translating a Slovak document with a Czech template, is not acceptable in official matters.
A company legal form, register term, education level or migration status may sound similar but not mean exactly the same. Where a Georgian equivalent cannot carry the full meaning, we keep the original Slovak name - especially useful when a lawyer, official or university administrator checks the document. See the Czech interpreter page for Czech documents.
ORSR, IČO and Slovak company documents
The Slovak Business Register - Obchodný register Slovenskej republiky, often ORSR - holds official company data: trade name, legal form, registered address, IČO, business purpose, capital, directors and rules of representation. The IČO is the company identification number, and one wrong digit creates a mismatch with the register. Forms such as s.r.o. and a.s. keep their abbreviation with a Georgian explanation; director, partner, prokurista and authorised representative are different statuses and never interchanged.
Articles, founding agreements, minutes of partners' meetings, director appointments, share transfers, powers of attorney, invoices and service contracts keep article numbers, headings, annex references and signature blocks. A reference to a specific Slovak law is never replaced with a Georgian term as if it were the same rule; the original name of the law or institution stays in brackets where needed. See registry extract translation.
Court, education, medical, financial and digital documents
Court and powers of attorney. Type of decision, procedural status of parties, case number, claim, reasoning, operative part and appeal rules - the facts and legal grounds are in the earlier sections, so the final paragraph alone is rarely enough. Powers of attorney are checked for the parties, the exact list of powers, term, substitution right and signature form. See legal translation. Education. Using foreign education in Slovakia may require official recognition, handled depending on purpose by a specialised centre within the education ministry system, a regional authority, a university or a professional regulator. Georgian grades are never converted into Slovak marks; the original meaning stays and any explanation is a separate note. Medical. Discharge summaries, Form 100, lab and radiology results, surgery descriptions, vaccination records, prescriptions and recommendations, with diagnosis, anatomy, dose, units, dates and Latin terms checked separately and brand names kept apart from active substances. See medical translation. Financial and digital. Account statements, income certificates, returns, loans, invoices and audits, with figures, currency, periods and account numbers exact; large tables are translated in full unless the recipient confirms otherwise. Slovak eID and PDF documents may carry electronic signatures, time stamps, verification or QR codes - send the original PDF rather than a screenshot. The rodné číslo is copied exactly, never translated. Women's surnames often end in -ová, but usage can vary between documents - the translator does not "correct" a surname. If the passport and a civil certificate differ, we discuss it before starting.
How a Slovak translation order runs
Upload every page
Clear photos or the original PDF, including the apostille and back sides.
Name the recipient
Language, receiving body, certification, deadline and any extra documents needed.
Rodné číslo and terms checked
Names, numbers, dates, terms, attachments and page order are verified.
Receive the translation
Electronically, in person or as a physical document, as agreed.
Price, turnaround and a checklist
Turnaround depends not only on page count but on the subject, tables, scan resolution, handwriting, the apostille and the final certification - a short matrika act and a court or medical file with many annexes are different workloads. The price is by agreement and set after we see the file. See translation prices.
Before sending: every page shows all four corners, the back is added if it has entries, seals and signatures are legible, all apostille pages are attached, the name matches the passport, the receiving body is named, its requirement letter is at hand and the certification form is clear. You do not need to be in Tbilisi - assessment and most of the work can be done remotely from any city or from Slovakia.

What form of Slovak notarized translation can be prepared in Georgia?
The Slovak text is translated in full, the data checked, and where needed a notary certifies the translator's signature. If the document goes to a Slovak authority, first confirm whether it accepts the Georgian form or wants an úradný preklad by a translator on the Slovak Ministry of Justice register.
When should an apostille be added to a Georgian document for Slovakia?
It depends on the document category and the Slovak recipient's instruction. A public document may need an apostille; some cases have another authentication or an exception. Send us the office's letter so the apostille page is processed in the same package.
Which matrika acts can you translate into Georgian?
Rodný list, sobášny list, úmrtný list and extracts from the matrika or osobitná matrika, with the register office, act number, names, dates, additional entries, stamps and other visible details.
What is translated for a Foreign Police application?
Depending on the case, the criminal record certificate, proof of family ties, proof of accommodation, work or study documents and other attachments. The package must match the current police list for the specific residence type.
Is a PDF enough for an assessment, and when is the original needed?
A clear PDF or full photos are enough for price, deadline and volume. The original or a certified copy may be needed later for binding, notarization or a specific recipient's rule; we agree this before confirming the order.
Can a Czech template be used for a Slovak document?
No. Czech and Slovak are related but separate standard languages, with different institution names, spelling, grammar and administrative terms, so a Slovak document is translated from the Slovak original in its own context.
Which education documents do you prepare for Slovak universities?
Diplomas, diploma supplements, transcripts, school certificates, syllabuses and certificates of hours or credits. Ask the university or recognition body first whether it wants the full package, an apostille or a version by an official translator registered in Slovakia.
