Luxembourgish Interpreter and Document Translation

A Luxembourg flag on a file is not enough to tell its language. Lëtzebuergesch, French and German are all used in administration and the courts; the casier judiciaire is officially issued in French, and RCS/LBR material may mix several languages. Choosing the right translator therefore starts with checking the text itself. TARGMANEBI translates Luxembourgish into Georgian and Georgian into Luxembourgish - and handles French and German Luxembourg documents - for personal, civil, residence, immigration, education, employment, business, banking, legal and medical use.

A Luxembourgish translator is needed when a file uses Lëtzebuergesch, or when Georgian text must be prepared specifically in Luxembourgish. Not every document from Luxembourg is in Luxembourgish: French and German are widely used in state and municipal life, and some forms use several languages at once. So the first step is identifying the document's real language, not just its country.

We carry across names, surnames, addresses, national identification numbers, register codes, positions, seals, notes and electronic certification elements exactly. Send every page and annex for a correct assessment.

Professional Luxembourgish translation

The translation may be for a state agency, commune, university, employer, bank, court, notary, embassy, social or immigration service, each needing different terminology and format. We check the source for pages, languages, seals, signatures, tables, handwriting and technical complexity; if one part is in French, another in German and the heading in Luxembourgish, all three are included in the assessment, avoiding an incomplete translation or missed annexes.

Luxembourg's multilingual administration

Lëtzebuergesch is the national language, but French and German are also used in administration. Laws and legal texts are often in French, communication with citizens may run in several languages, and a municipal certificate may be issued in French or German. Luxembourg's official information portal names Luxembourgish, French and German as administrative and judicial languages, though a given procedure may accept more - some citizenship procedures accept French, German, English or Luxembourgish documents, while many family reunification and diploma recognition pages list French, German and English. So translating a Georgian document directly into Lëtzebuergesch is right only when the recipient or your purpose really requires it.

Luxembourgish belongs to the West Central German group but has its own spelling, vocabulary and many French borrowings. You may see Gemeng (commune), Gebuertsschäin (birth certificate), Bestietnes (marriage), Wunnsëtz (residence) or Ufro (application); German text uses different forms, cases and official terms. French is often signalled by headings such as acte de naissance, certificat de résidence, extrait du casier judiciaire or registre de commerce et des sociétés. In a multilingual file the same data may be explained in several languages; the translation records the real content and notes where a part was in another language. See the French and German interpreter pages.

Civil acts: birth, marriage and death

A Luxembourg birth or marriage act is an official civil status record issued by the relevant commune, and may show the full name, date and place of birth, parents' and spouses' details, act number, registrar's signature and later marginal notes. According to Guichet.lu, the full copy of a birth act, the short extract and the international short form for use abroad are different; the act is issued by the commune of birth and may carry marginal notes on marriage, divorce, adoption or change of name. An international form does not automatically remove the need for a translation or apostille in Georgia - confirm with the Georgian recipient.

A copy of a marriage act is issued by the commune where the civil marriage took place, so the commune name, registrar, date and spouses' identification stay clear. A MyGuichet notification or application confirmation may not be the marriage certificate itself - send the full PDF. For marriages, the full birth act copy, residence certificate, proof of capacity to marry or family status and, for divorced or widowed people, the final act are often requested; a marriage concluded abroad and recorded in Luxembourg may need the duly certified foreign act, with its apostille, legalization stamp and every page of the authenticity chain translated.

Certificat de résidence, RNPP and the 13-digit matricule

The certificat de résidence confirms a person's legal address - the one registered in RNPP, Luxembourg's national register of natural persons. An extended version may include the spouse, partner or children registered at the same habitual residence. The commune, date of issue, registered address and certificate type are rendered exactly; ordinary and extended certificates are not interchangeable, and a short address certificate may not be enough if the recipient asks for household composition.

RNPP is not just an address list: officially it may hold the name, 13-digit identification number, habitual residence, birth data, family status, nationality, sex and, where relevant, spouse or partner data. A given certificate shows only the part matching its form, so we never add data "inferred" from the register. The 13-digit national identification number, known as the matricule, is used across administrative, social, tax and health systems; it is copied unchanged, without Georgian digits or extra separators. It is personal data - send only the pages needed, and a blurred digit is never guessed.

Identity, residence and which language for Georgian documents

For passports and ID cards we check the Latin transliteration, nationality, place of birth, number, issuer and validity. A third-country national may go through a temporary authorisation, a type D visa, an arrival declaration at the commune and a later residence permit - "visa", "residence permit" and "temporary stay authorisation" are not legally the same, so exact titles are kept.

There is no single language answer for every procedure. The current family reunification rule for third-country nationals says documents not in German, French or English must come with an official translation by an authorised translator, while the Luxembourgish citizenship option procedure lists Luxembourgish among accepted languages. In practice French or English is often the most practical choice, but the final language must match your specific checklist. For registering a foreign civil partnership, a third-country document may need an apostille or legalization of signature and, if not in French, German or English, an official translation by a sworn translator. EU member state documents have their own exceptions and multilingual forms; Georgia is not an EU member, so intra-EU simplifications cannot be assumed. "Georgian into Luxembourgish" and "a Georgian document translated for Luxembourg" are therefore not always the same service.

Extrait du casier judiciaire

Luxembourg's criminal record extract for individuals is issued in French - a clear example of why "a Luxembourg document" does not mean "a Luxembourgish-language document". It may be required for employment, licensing, residence, volunteering or other procedures; the translation renders the extract type, personal data, issuing body, date and result, plus any QR code, verification note and electronic signature text on a digital copy. See criminal record certificate translation.

An individual can request extract No. 3, No. 4 or No. 5. Guichet.lu describes No. 3 as the standard extract, No. 4 as possibly including driving ban decisions, and No. 5 as the "Protection des mineurs" extract for regular activities with minors - the number is never dropped, because it changes the extract's purpose. It can be requested online via MyGuichet.lu and arrives as a PDF in the personal space, free of charge for individuals. A foreign national's Luxembourg extract may show only Luxembourg court data; the full history comes from the country of citizenship, and a translation cannot replace another country's register.

Apostille, legalization and the 2026 electronic procedure

In Luxembourg, an apostille or legalization of a public document for a foreign authority can be requested through MyGuichet.lu or at the Passports and Legalisation Office of the Directorate of Consular Affairs. In 2026 both paper and electronic legalization and e-Apostille are available; under the official rules, from 6 May 2026 online applications for electronic documents must be authenticated with LuxTrust or an electronic ID card. Whether you need legalization or an apostille depends on whether the destination country is a Hague Convention party, and the official state fee is separate from our translation price.

For translation, the whole certification block matters: apostille heading, country, signatory, position, seal, number, date and electronic verification data. The apostille does not confirm content; it checks the official origin of the signature, seal or stamp. In Georgia, notarization usually certifies the translator's signature, not the foreign document's facts - some recipients want only a translation, others notarization, others an apostille or a bound copy - so tell us the country, office and purpose, and whether you have the original, a notarized copy, an electronic PDF or a photo. See apostille and legalization.

RCS, LBR, work, finance and other documents

The Registre de commerce et des sociétés (RCS) is the official directory run by Luxembourg Business Registers (LBR), showing company name, legal form, registered office, registration number, purpose, managers, partners and filed acts. For translation we need the downloaded official extract or specific filing, not a search screen, and you should specify whether you need the current register status, articles, a beneficial owner document, annual accounts or a historical act. Legal forms such as SA, SARL, SARL-S, SCA or SCSp are never converted arbitrarily into Georgian forms; the abbreviation stays with an explanatory equivalent. See registry extract translation.

A work package may mix a French contract, a German annex and a Luxembourgish notice; taxable income, social contributions, family status and insurance periods are kept distinct, with periods, amounts, currency and declaration numbers intact. Financial and compliance texts - statements, bank references, source of funds letters, KYC forms, investment and fund documents - keep holders, IBAN/BIC, periods, balances, liability limits and regulatory terms exact. Diploma equivalence, academic recognition of higher education (linked to registration in the official register of higher education qualifications) and professional recognition for regulated professions are separate procedures. Medical texts may combine French, German and Latin terms, and property and inheritance files keep cadastral numbers, shares and areas; a utility bill is not an official certificat de résidence.

How a Luxembourg translation order runs

Send the full file

A complete PDF or clear photos, including backs, seals and annexes.

2

We identify the language

Lëtzebuergesch, French, German or several languages.

3

Terms checked

Names, numbers, dates, RNPP/RCS terms and page order are verified.

4

Agreed version

An electronic file or a certified paper copy in Tbilisi.

Price, turnaround and ordering online

Deadline and price depend on pages, the combination of languages, terminology, file quality and certification, and are set after we see the document; the price is by agreement. See translation prices. Online assessment works from any Georgian city or abroad; our office is at 118 Davit Aghmashenebeli Ave, Tbilisi.

Many procedures run through MyGuichet.lu, and PDFs may carry an electronic signature, verification code, QR code or technical annex that a screenshot misses - send the original PDF, and for a password-protected or partly downloaded file, a complete openable version. The safest choice for official use is often a full translation; a selected passage is possible if the recipient accepts it, but is never presented as the full document.

Frequently asked questions about Luxembourg translation

Can a Luxembourgish translation be notarized?

Yes, it can be prepared for notarization in Georgia. Check with the recipient first whether it needs only a translation, notarization, an apostille or another formality.

How do I know if a document is in Luxembourgish, French or German?

The heading is not always enough. Luxembourg documents may be in any of these or several at once; we check the actual text, seals and annexes during assessment.

Do you translate the certificat de résidence and RNPP documents?

Yes - ordinary and extended residence certificates, RNPP letters and other administrative extracts, according to what the document actually contains.

What language is a Luxembourg casier judiciaire in?

The individual's criminal record extract is officially issued in French, so it often falls under French translation even though it comes from Luxembourg.

Should the apostille come before or after translation?

It depends on the country and office where you submit. If the original carries an apostille, it is normally translated too; the order is set by the recipient's requirement.

Do you translate from Georgian into Luxembourgish?

Yes. For official use, confirm with the recipient whether it really needs Lëtzebuergesch or French, German or another accepted language.

Can I send a Luxembourg document online?

Yes, a clear photo or PDF is enough to start, with every page, back side, seal, QR code and electronic signature detail visible.
