Spanish Translation - Spanish to Georgian and Georgian to Spanish

Spanish takes Georgian documents to Spain and to some twenty countries in Latin America, each with its own offices and its own rules. Georgians move to Spain for work, study and family; Spanish and Latin American companies trade with Georgia; courts and registries on both sides need each other's papers. TARGMANEBI translates between Spanish and Georgian and checks which country and which office the translation is for before starting.

This page covers written translation. For an interpreter at a meeting, a notary or a clinic, see the Spanish interpreter page.

Spain has a strict system of official translators: a "traductor jurado" appointed by the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs signs and seals translations that Spanish offices accept without further certification. Many applications made from Georgia work with translations certified here instead. The two are not interchangeable, so we confirm which one your procedure needs.

Spanish into Georgian

Spanish documents come into Georgian for Georgian registries, courts, notaries, banks and universities: a marriage registered in Spain, a Spanish "escritura" for a property or company, a court decision on divorce or custody, a diploma from a Spanish or Latin American university. We translate every entry, stamp and marginal note in full.

Spanish and Latin American documents use different terms for similar things - a "partida de nacimiento" in one country is an "acta de nacimiento" in another - and some institutions, such as the Spanish "NIE", have no Georgian equivalent. We keep such terms and explain them, so the Georgian reader understands what the document is.

Georgian into Spanish

Georgian documents go into Spanish for embassies, immigration offices, civil registries, universities, employers and courts. We write standard Spanish that Spanish and Latin American offices both accept, and adapt terminology where the recipient country uses its own.

Spanish offices usually record two surnames, while Georgian documents show one surname and a patronymic. We do not invent a second surname: the name is copied from the Latin spelling in your passport, and the patronymic is shown as a patronymic, which avoids confusion in the Spanish registry.

Tell us the country. A translation for Madrid, Buenos Aires or Mexico City reads the same to you, but the offices there expect slightly different terms and certification.

Spanish translation for the embassy, visas and residence

Visa and residence procedures for Spain - study, work, family reunification, non-lucrative residence, digital nomad visas - require Georgian documents in Spanish: most often the criminal record certificate, birth and marriage certificates, medical certificates and proof of means. Most need an apostille, and the apostille itself must be translated.

Some Spanish offices accept a translation certified in Georgia, while others, particularly inside Spain, require a traductor jurado. Requirements also change with the type of residence. We work from the current list your consulate or immigration office has given you.

Spanish translation for study and recognition

Admission to Spanish universities and recognition of foreign degrees ("homologación" or "equivalencia") require the diploma, the supplement or transcripts and, for some programmes, the school certificate, fully translated into Spanish with an apostille.

The recognition authority compares your programme subject by subject, so each subject, credit and grade is translated, and the Georgian grading scale is stated as the original defines it. We leave grade conversion to the university or ministry.

Spanish translation for Latin American countries

Georgian documents also go to Mexico, Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Peru and other Latin American countries - for residence, marriage, business and study. Most of these countries are parties to the Apostille Convention, but each has its own rules on whether the translation must be done locally by an official translator.

We prepare the translation in neutral Latin American Spanish or with the terms the specific country uses, and we tell you in advance if a local official translation will be needed as well.

Legal, medical and business Spanish

Legal. Contracts, powers of attorney, notarial deeds, inheritance documents and court decisions, with consistent legal terminology. See legal translation. Medical. Medical reports, test results and prescriptions, with diagnoses, drug names and doses checked separately. See medical translation. Business. Commercial offers, contracts, catalogues and correspondence for Spanish and Latin American partners, written in natural business Spanish.

Spanish translation with notarization and apostille

For official use in Georgia a Spanish translation is notarized. Georgia and Spain are both parties to the Apostille Convention, so Georgian public documents for Spain usually carry an apostille, which is translated with the document. See notarization and apostille and legalization.

If your Spanish office requires a traductor jurado, we tell you before the order, and our role may be limited to preparing the apostilled originals.

Frequently asked questions about Spanish translation

Do you translate in both directions?

Yes, from Spanish into Georgian and from Georgian into Spanish, for personal, academic, legal, medical and business documents.

What is a traductor jurado?

A translator appointed by the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs whose signed and sealed translations Spanish offices accept directly. Some procedures require one; others accept a translation certified in Georgia. We check before the order.

Which documents are needed for Spanish residence?

Usually the criminal record certificate, a medical certificate and, for family members, birth and marriage certificates, all with apostilles and Spanish translations. The list depends on the type of residence.

How do you handle two Spanish surnames?

We do not invent a second surname. Your name is copied from your passport and the patronymic is shown as a patronymic, which is how Spanish registries expect foreign names to appear.

Do you translate for Latin America?

Yes, for Mexico, Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Peru and other countries, with terminology adapted where needed and advice on local certification rules.

How long does a Spanish translation take?

A short certificate is often ready within a day or two; longer documents take more time. We confirm the deadline when we see the file.

Can I order from abroad?

Yes. Send the documents online; the translation is sent by email, and certified paper can be delivered to someone in Georgia or dispatched by courier.
