Translation Bureau in Akhmeta

Akhmeta municipality is the most varied part of Kakheti: the villages of the Alazani valley, the Pankisi gorge and high-mountain Tusheti. Local families often hold old documents in Russian, young people have plans to study abroad, and the guesthouses of Omalo and Pankisi have foreign guests. TARGMANEBI brings all of this into one service: translation, notarization and apostille without leaving Akhmeta.

A translation bureau for Akhmeta - TARGMANEBI's service for a municipality from which the road to Tbilisi takes two hours, and from the villages of Tusheti a whole day. That is why for Akhmeta the remote scheme is not just a convenience but a necessity: a photo of the document is sent from a phone, the translation and certification are prepared in Tbilisi, and the finished document comes back to Akhmeta by courier.

Orders from Akhmeta have a character of their own. In the families of the Pankisi gorge - Duisi, Jokolo, Omalo, Birkiani - many documents were drawn up in Russian, and to be submitted to Georgian authorities they need a notarized translation into Georgian. In Alvani and Akhmeta young people are preparing to study in Europe, and in Tusheti family guesthouses host foreigners every summer. These three flows are the foundation of our service for Akhmeta.

If a document is handwritten, faded or the stamp is barely legible, send it anyway - before quoting we will see what can be read and what cannot, and only then tell you the price. We never translate by guesswork.

Translating Russian-language and old documents into Georgian

This is the category that comes from Akhmeta most often. Documents from the Soviet period and the 1990s, certificates issued in Russia and other countries, handwritten certificates - Georgian authorities accept all of them only with a certified translation.

Civil status records

  • Birth certificate in Russian
  • Marriage and divorce certificates
  • Death certificate for inheritance
  • Certificate of change of first name or surname
  • Adoption documents

Work and pension

  • Employment record book with handwritten entries
  • Certificate of salary and length of service
  • Archival extract
  • Military ID and certificate of military service
  • Pension file documents

Education

  • Soviet and Russian diplomas
  • School certificate and grade supplement
  • Vocational school certificate
  • Professional development certificate
  • Academic certificate

The main difficulty in translating such documents is the spelling of names. The same person may be written three different ways in a Russian certificate, a Georgian ID card and a child's birth certificate. In the translation we use the spelling from the valid Georgian ID card or passport and note the original form in a remark - this is the scheme the authorities accept. So whenever you send an old document, please also send a photo of your ID.

Documents for going abroad from Akhmeta

The second flow runs in the opposite direction - Georgian documents into a foreign language. Young people from Akhmeta and Alvani enrol at universities in Germany, Poland and the Baltic states, family members work in Europe, and some leave under family reunification programmes. For this we translate school certificates and diplomas, birth and marriage certificates, criminal record certificates, medical records, bank statements, powers of attorney and consent for a child to travel. Most of these documents also need an apostille abroad, which we arrange in Tbilisi together with the notarization.

There is one nuance we often see in orders from Akhmeta: a document first has to be translated from Russian into Georgian and then from Georgian into German or English. For example, the birth certificate of a child born in Russia that is now needed for a school in Germany. We prepare such two-step cases as one package, so that names and dates are written identically in both translations.

Tourism texts for Tusheti and Pankisi

Omalo, Dartlo, Shenako, the family guesthouses of Pankisi and horse-riding tours welcome European and American guests in summer. For them we translate guesthouse descriptions for booking platforms, tour programmes and routes, mountain safety rules, menus, contracts with tour operators and website text. Such material needs no certification and is quick to prepare; what matters is that the text sounds natural to a foreigner and that Tushetian names are transliterated the same way in every piece of material.

Which languages are in demand in Akhmeta?

In Akhmeta municipality Russian leads in both directions - into Georgian because of old documents, and into Russian because of family ties. English serves tourism and study, German and Polish study and work plans in Europe. On request we also translate to and from Turkish, Arabic, Ukrainian, French, Italian, Spanish, Greek, Chinese, Dutch and Czech.

Deadlines and cost for orders from Akhmeta

A translation of a one-page printed document is usually ready the same or the next working day. A handwritten employment record book or archival certificate takes longer - one to two days per page, because deciphering the entries is a separate step. Notarization adds another one to two working days, the time for an apostille depends on the type of document, and the courier to Akhmeta runs by arrangement.

The price is by agreement: it depends on the number of pages, the language, the type of text (printed or handwritten) and any additional procedures, and it is agreed after we see the document. There is no surcharge for ordering from Akhmeta, and the cost is fixed as soon as we have seen the document, before work begins. If an inaccuracy on our side turns up in the translation, we correct it free of charge.

Inheritance, property and relatives abroad

In Akhmeta municipality it is common for a house or a vineyard to belong to several co-heirs, some of whom live in Russia and some in Europe. Dividing, selling or registering the property then needs a chain of documents: a power of attorney or a renunciation of inheritance from a relative abroad, drawn up with a notary there and needing translation into Georgian; a death certificate, if it was issued in another country; old certificates proving kinship; and an extract from the Public Registry that a co-heir abroad needs in a language they understand.

In such cases the documents are often in three languages - Russian, Georgian and, say, German - and the same people must be written identically in all of them. So we handle an inheritance package with one translator and keep a table of name spellings, so that a document added months later is prepared by the same rule.

Who is responsible for orders from Akhmeta

TARGMANEBI is the brand of the sole trader Mariam Zumadze (ID 30601010853). The office is in Tbilisi, at 118 Davit Aghmashenebeli Ave, although a client from Akhmeta only needs this address if they are coming to the capital anyway and would rather collect the original themselves. Every order has one responsible manager who follows the process from intake to delivery and whom you can reach at any stage by WhatsApp or phone. Nobody apart from that manager and the translator opens your files - no other employee, no partner, and never for an advertising sample.

Frequently asked questions - translation in Akhmeta

How should a Russian birth certificate be translated for the Public Service Hall?

Into Georgian, with notarization. Send us photos of both sides of the certificate and a photo of your Georgian ID card, so that we write the first name and surname consistently. The original is usually not needed for this procedure.

The handwritten entries in my employment record book are barely legible. Can it still be translated?

In most cases, yes. First we see which entries are fully legible and which only partly, and tell you so in the quote. An illegible fragment is marked in the translation with an appropriate note - invented text is never written into a document.

First from Russian into Georgian and then into German - are those two separate orders?

One order, two stages. We prepare both translations as one package, so that names, dates and numbers are identical in both, and the certification and apostille go on the final version. The cost of both stages is calculated together in advance.

How can I send a document from Tusheti in summer?

You can send a photo from anywhere with an internet connection; if the original is needed, the courier comes to Akhmeta or Alvani, and to Tusheti only in season and by arrangement. That is why we settle the question of the original as soon as you order, so no time is lost.

Does the English translation of a Pankisi guesthouse description and tour programme need certification?

No. Tourism and promotional texts are prepared without certification, so they are quicker and cheaper. What matters here is style and consistent transliteration of names, which we check separately.

How many days until a certified document reaches Akhmeta?

Translation and notarization of a one-page document usually take two to three working days, and the courier comes to Akhmeta on an agreed day. With an apostille the timing is confirmed according to the type of document and you are told before you order.
