Translation Bureau in Kharistvala

Kharistvala is the Lajanuri hydropower plant settlement - in Tsageri municipality, by the Lajanuri reservoir, home to a few hundred families, almost all of them connected to the energy sector: people who work at the plant, people who retired from it, and people whose children went with the same profession to a European power station or an offshore platform. An energy worker's papers are different from an ordinary diploma - clearances, safety groups, service records by voltage class - and that is what the Kharistvala page is about. TARGMANEBI offers the families of the Lajanuri valley translation, notarization and apostille.

A translation bureau for Kharistvala - TARGMANEBI's service for one of the smallest settlements on this list, where one profession unites the whole community. The Lajanuri HPP has been running since 1960, and Kharistvala has three generations of energy workers: those whose work books begin with the stamp of the Soviet power system, those who keep the plant running today, and those who work with the same qualification at energy facilities in Poland, Germany, Norway or the North Sea. An energy worker's papers are their voltage class, their clearance group and a specific generating unit, and a foreign employer looks for exactly those details in the translation.

Kharistvala's second theme is the plant itself: equipment modernisation with foreign suppliers, technical documentation and safety instructions in two languages, visits by foreign engineers. The third is the ordinary life of the settlement: children in Europe, grandparents on a plant pension, documents for offices in Tsageri and Kutaisi. It is four and a half hours from Kharistvala to Tbilisi, and the courier comes to the settlement together with Tsageri on an agreed day - picking up several families' documents in one visit.

Energy workers abroad - clearance, group, service record

A European power station, grid company or offshore platform asks a Georgian electrician not just for a diploma but for a complete "electrical biography" - and every page of that biography needs specific terminology in translation:

Education and qualification

  • Vocational or higher diploma in power engineering with its supplement
  • Grade or category and the certificate awarding it
  • Professional development certificates - relay protection, automation, high voltage
  • Certificates from the power system training centre
  • Training certificates from a foreign manufacturer, if the equipment is foreign

Clearance and safety

  • Electrical safety group clearance stating the voltage class
  • Certificate of passing the annual examination
  • Clearances for work at height, cranes and hazardous zones
  • Extract from the occupational safety briefing log
  • Medical examination certificate confirming fitness for the job

Experience

  • Work book or service record with the plant's stamp
  • Job description - what exactly you did
  • List of the units and systems you worked with
  • Reference or recommendation from the employer
  • Certificate of accident-free work, if the employer asks for it

Translating an electrical safety group is a task of its own: the groups of the Georgian and post-Soviet system (II-V, up to and above 1000 volts) do not map directly onto European qualification frameworks - the German "Elektrofachkraft", the British "authorised person", the Norwegian system - so in translation the clearance has to be carried over with the original term, the voltage class and a note, so that the employer assesses the equivalence itself rather than relying on the translator's guess. Terminology for generating units, relay protection and automation is checked against international electrotechnical vocabulary.

Lajanuri HPP - equipment, instructions, foreign engineers

The plant is being modernised with foreign suppliers of turbines, generators, relay protection and control systems, and the documentation is needed in two languages: technical data sheets and operating instructions in Georgian for the operators, safety instructions in the language of the plant floor for the workers, installation and warranty contracts, test reports and acceptance certificates in the supplier's language, and, when an engineer visits, an interpreter who knows hydropower terminology and stands in the turbine hall during installation and commissioning. Technical texts are translated by a translator specialising in power engineering, units and standard numbers are checked separately, and a terminology base is created for the plant so that every subsequent unit is named the same way.

An operating instruction translated once stays in our base: at the next stage of modernisation only the changed chapters are translated, while the safety instruction is written once in the plant floor's own vocabulary and works for years.

Plant pensioners - Soviet power system work books

The work books of Kharistvala's older generation are in Russian, stamped by the Soviet power system and later by enterprises of various eras, and they go to the Pension Agency with a notarized Georgian translation. In an energy worker's work book, the entries on harmful and hazardous conditions matter - high voltage, noise, height - because pension conditions depend on them, as do the handwritten transfers from one unit to another. We decipher the entries first, compare the name with the Georgian ID card, and quote the price after deciphering. For anyone who years ago also worked at other facilities of the Soviet power system - in Russia or Ukraine - the archival certificates from there are translated in the same package.

Kharistvala families

Beyond the plant, Kharistvala families live like the rest of Lechkhumi: children in Europe, grandparents in the settlement, the house often held under a Soviet-era allocation order. Their documents - a visa, a university application, a power of attorney from Europe for a case about a plant flat, a consent for a child to travel - come back in the same envelope as the energy worker's certificates. Because the settlement is small, one visit often combines several families' documents - which also splits the courier cost.

Languages in orders from Kharistvala

Because of where energy workers find jobs, Polish, German and English are the most frequent languages in Kharistvala - English is also the language of offshore platforms, international companies and equipment documentation. Russian and Ukrainian are needed for Soviet work books and archival certificates, Dutch and Czech with European energy companies, Chinese and Turkish with equipment suppliers. Documents from Kharistvala people living in Europe arrive in Italian, Greek and Spanish; French and Arabic account for one or two orders a year from the settlement.

The process for an energy worker's package

1

The employer's list and all documents

The foreign company's list of requirements and photos of the diploma, clearances, work book and certificates - by WhatsApp or by email to info@targmanebi.ge. Without the list, some field of the clearance could be missed.

2

Country and facility

Tell us which country and what type of facility - a power station, a grid, a platform - so we can fit the clearance terminology to the system where it will be read.

3

Electrotechnical translation and table

A translator specialising in energy does the work; we agree how the groups and voltage classes are rendered with you - you know your clearance better than we do - and only then does the translation go to the notary and for apostille.

4

Paper in Kharistvala or abroad

You get the file straight away; the courier brings the certified package to Kharistvala along with the Tsageri visit, or we send it by international post directly to the employer's country if you are already there.

Price and deadlines

There is no surcharge for orders from Kharistvala, and the price is by agreement, set after we see the documents; the courier to Lechkhumi is a separate item known in advance, and in a small settlement it is paid once for several families' documents. An energy worker's package is five to ten documents: the diploma and clearances with notarization and apostille in two to four days, a Soviet work book after deciphering, the full package with apostilles in one to two weeks; a technical instruction for the plant is priced by volume, without certification. The plant has a terminology base, a confidentiality undertaking and a monthly invoice. The translation of an energy worker's clearance is confirmed by the signature of the bureau's founder, the sole trader Mariam Zumadze (ID 30601010853), and if a Polish or German employer points to our mistake in the voltage class field, the document is corrected free of charge, with a new notarization.

Moving from the Lajanuri HPP to a power station in Poland or Germany and need your safety group, diploma and service record translated? Foreign equipment arriving at the plant? Have your grandfather's Soviet work book for a pension? Send us a photo from Kharistvala - the courier will come along with Tsageri.

Frequently asked questions - translation in Kharistvala

I have electrical safety group IV above 1000 volts. How is that translated into German?

The group and voltage class are carried over with the original term - "group IV, above 1000 V" - and a note adds a short explanation of the Georgian system; the equivalence with the German "Elektrofachkraft" is decided by the employer or the authority, not the translator. That way the translation raises no doubts at the office and the group does not get "lost".

My certificates from the plant's training centre are in Russian and I am going to work in Norway. Are they translated twice?

In one order, in two stages - first into Georgian with notarization, then into English (most Norwegian companies accept English), using one terminology. The apostille goes on the final version. If the requirement is for Norwegian, call us in advance.

The instruction for the plant's new turbine is in English, 300 pages. Does it all have to be translated?

For operators - the chapters on operation, safety and emergency modes; the manufacturing and warehouse parts the engineer can read in English. Send us the contents page and we will mark the chapters you need - the cost drops two or three times, and the terminology base prepares the ground for the next unit.

My grandfather's work book has a handwritten "harmful conditions" entry from 1975. Will it work for the Agency?

We carry the handwritten entry over exactly as it reads and mark unclear letters with a note. If the Agency needs an archival certificate from the power system, it is translated with the same terminology - both documents are kept as one case.

A safety instruction for operators from English into Georgian - who checks that the terms match the plant floor?

If you wish, we agree the final version of the translation with the plant's safety engineer - he tells us what the unit is called in the hall, and that is how the text is written. The instruction is prepared in short, imperative sentences so that a shift worker reads it, not only an engineer.

Three families in the settlement are sending documents at the same time. Is the courier paid three times?

No - in Kharistvala the courier collects and returns several families' documents in one visit, and the cost is shared between the families. That is exactly why we announce the visit day in the settlement in advance - whoever is ready goes together.

I am already in Poland and my documents stayed with my parents in Kharistvala. How do I arrange it?

Your parents send the photos, and you send the employer's list from Poland. We prepare the translation from the photos, the courier picks up the originals for the apostille on the Tsageri visit, and we send the finished package by international post directly to your address in Poland.
