Translation Bureau in Gori

Gori is the administrative and educational centre of Shida Kartli - a university, museums, medical institutions, manufacturing and trading companies, and the offices of international and local organisations running community programmes. Uplistsikhe sits beside the city and brings visitors all year round. That many different activities produce a wide spread of translation work, from a grant report to a medical certificate. TARGMANEBI serves Gori with a daily courier and a fully remote process.

A translation bureau for Gori - TARGMANEBI's service for a regional centre less than an hour from Tbilisi. The client mix here is balanced: roughly half organisations and companies, half private individuals. The first group needs regular, often bulky work held together by consistent terminology; the second needs fast, accurate single documents certified in the right form. The same scheme works for both. We receive the material electronically, confirm the price and the deadline within working hours, send the finished file by email, and have certified paper brought to you in Gori by courier - the route runs every day.

Organisations, programmes, donors

Organisations working in Gori for years now deal with community development, social programmes, education and support for vulnerable groups. Their documentation falls into three main groups:

Funding

  • Grant applications, logical frameworks and budgets
  • Terms of reference and tender requirements
  • Contracts with donors and sub-grantees
  • Financial and narrative reports
  • Audit and monitoring documents

Activity

  • Research and needs-assessment reports
  • Training modules and manuals
  • Questionnaires, interview guides and focus-group material
  • Informed consent forms for beneficiaries
  • Internal policies - codes of ethics, safeguarding procedures

Communication

  • Press releases, human stories and social media copy
  • Presentations and information leaflets
  • Event programmes and invitations
  • Website sections and report summaries
  • Interpreting at meetings and online sessions

A project text has a grammar of its own: indicators, a results framework, beneficiary categories and terms that have to arrive in the form the sector actually uses. So we build a terminology base with each organisation and keep one team on the whole project, from the application to the final report. Information about beneficiaries is specially protected data and stays that way with us; where needed we sign a separate agreement.

A reporting deadline is normally fixed and does not move. That is why we hand over a large document in parts: the narrative first, the figures and annexes after - so you can review in parallel and nothing piles up on the last day.

University, schools, students

Educational institutions in Gori take part in international programmes, teachers travel to training, and students go on exchanges and to universities abroad. From that comes a steady flow of academic documents: school certificates and diplomas with their supplements, transcripts, course descriptions, reference letters, motivation texts, scholarship applications. From the institutions themselves come memoranda of cooperation, exchange programme agreements, academic staff publications and conference material. The most frequent mistake in academic translation is how subjects and the grading system are carried across: if credits and grades are not tied to the receiving country's system, the document raises questions instead of answering them. So we treat the supplement as a separate piece of work and, where it helps, add explanatory notes.

Tourism, museums, Uplistsikhe

The museums of Gori and the rock-hewn town of Uplistsikhe are the region's most important tourist sites. For them we prepare exhibition texts, labels, audio guide scripts, information boards, booklets and route descriptions in visitors' languages. With historical material we are careful about two things: the accuracy of dates and names, and making sure a foreign reader understands the text without the local context - one explanatory sentence often makes a whole paragraph land. For hotels and restaurants we translate descriptions, menus, booking conditions and correspondence with guests. Such texts need no certification, but the style feeds directly into how many visitors choose the place.

Companies and personal documents

The city's business sector - trading, transport, construction and processing companies - needs contracts, invoices, certificates, equipment manuals and banking documents. For private clients we handle the papers people need most often: work visa packages, medical documents for treatment abroad, powers of attorney and consents, certificates issued abroad, pension and archival records. In both cases we follow one rule: first we establish who the document will be submitted to, and only then start work. The recipient decides both the language and whether the bureau stamp is enough, a notary is required, or an apostille is needed as well.

Medical documents and treatment

Clinics in Gori serve a large part of the region, and a steady demand for medical translation comes from that. A patient planning a consultation with a foreign specialist or treatment abroad needs test results, imaging reports, descriptions of operations already performed and the discharge summary translated; coming the other way, someone returning from abroad needs the foreign documents in Georgian so the local doctor can continue the treatment. Such texts are handled by a translator experienced in medical terminology: the diagnosis, the drug name, the dose and the test values have to arrive unchanged and exact, handwritten prescriptions are deciphered separately, and abbreviations are written out in full. Insurance work is frequent too, when a cost statement and a report are required for reimbursement - we prepare that package together and deliver it quickly, because the deadlines are usually tight. All patient data is specially protected with us.

Languages in orders from Gori

English is the busiest direction in Gori - projects, academic and tourism texts all run in it. Russian is frequent with visitors, older documents and regional trade, German in academic exchanges and engineering, French and Italian with international organisations and the diaspora, Turkish in business and technical material, Polish and Czech in labour migration. Also available: Spanish, Greek, Ukrainian, Dutch, Arabic and Chinese.

How we work

1

Send the material

A photo by WhatsApp to 501 113 200 or a file to info@targmanebi.ge. Project and academic texts are best sent in editable format, together with their tables.

2

Name the recipient

A donor, a university, an embassy, an agency or a partner - that is what decides the language, the register and the form of certification.

3

Work as a team

A specialist translator and an editor. Large projects are split between people but rest on one shared terminology base, so the text stays consistent throughout.

4

Delivery

You receive the file as soon as it is finished; certified originals come to Gori on the daily courier route, and anyone already going to the capital can collect them at the office.

Price, deadlines, responsibility

On price, Gori counts as the capital zone for us and no separate tariff applies. On deadlines: a short certificate comes back within the day, a personal document with notarization within forty-eight hours, a diploma with its supplement and subject list in up to three days, while a bulky report or study is delivered in agreed stages. Where an apostille is involved, the procedure itself sets the timing. With organisations we prefer a standing arrangement - fixed prices, one point of contact, a stored glossary and one settlement a month; for an accountant that means one document instead of twenty. What is in the material - project figures, beneficiary identities, contract terms - stays inside our walls. Contracts in the bureau's name are signed by the sole trader Mariam Zumadze (ID 30601010853), which in donor reporting means every payment rests on a properly drawn document. If an error is ours, correcting it is at our expense.

A report that has to reach the donor by Thursday? A student's diploma and supplement for a foreign university? New texts being prepared for the museum? Write to us from Gori - we will fit the work to your deadline and hand it over in parts as it goes.

Frequently asked questions - translation in Gori

We are an organisation with material to translate every month. How do we work together?

We recommend a standing arrangement: a contract with agreed rates, a terminology base built from your programme's vocabulary, and one named point of contact. Orders accumulate through the month and settlement happens on a single invoice - simpler for your accounting and faster for you.

We have the grant application in Georgian and the donor needs an English version.

The application's original structure stays untouched in translation - the list of indicators, the budget table, the sequence of activities. If a phrase reads ambiguously we flag it separately for you, because those are exactly the places that prompt an assessor's questions. When the deadline is tight we hand the text over in parts.

My child is applying abroad. How long will the diploma and supplement take?

Normally two to three days with notarization; if the university also asks for an apostille, the procedure sets the timing. Please tell us in advance which Latin spelling of the surname appears in the passport - the same spelling has to be used in every document.

We need texts for the boards at Uplistsikhe. How short should they be?

We prepare two versions - a short one for the board and a fuller one for a booklet or the website. The historical facts are equally precise in both; only the level of detail differs. For a foreign reader one explanatory sentence often changes a great deal.

We will need interpreting at a meeting. Can you do that?

Yes, but it has to be planned in advance: an interpreter travels to Gori and the fee is calculated in days, whereas an online format is both cheaper and more flexible. In either case we need the agenda beforehand, along with the terms that are certain to come up.

How quickly does the courier reach Gori?

The route runs daily, so a certified document is normally with you the day after it is ready. The electronic version goes out the moment the work is finished, and for a working process that is often enough on its own.
