Translation Bureau in Akhaldaba

Akhaldaba stands at the entrance to the Borjomi gorge, where the forest takes over from the town. Life here is tied to the forest: sawmills and small wood product workshops, the trails and guides of Borjomi-Kharagauli National Park, beekeeping and the gathering of wild plants. All three now look abroad - wood products go for export, the park's projects are funded by foreign donors, and foreign buyers want honey and herbs with a certificate. TARGMANEBI serves Akhaldaba with exactly these documents.

A translation bureau for Akhaldaba - a service for a small town a few minutes' drive from Borjomi that nevertheless has an economic character of its own. Our orders here are rarely a one-page certificate - far more often they are a set: a contract, a certificate, an invoice and correspondence on one deal; or a project package made up of an application, a budget and a report. Work like that needs consistent terminology, so all of one client's texts are handled by one translator with one stored glossary. The courier on the Borjomi route brings the paper, and the electronic version reaches you as soon as it is ready.

Timber, sawmills and wood products

Exporting wood products is one of the most document-heavy fields there is - receiving countries check origin and processing separately. The most frequent texts:

Origin and legality

  • Forest use documents and timber origin certificates
  • Permits and records from the forestry authority
  • Records proving timber traceability along the supply chain
  • Voluntary certification audit reports
  • Declarations of conformity for foreign buyers

Export and packaging

  • Phytosanitary certificates and treatment reports
  • Marking documents for wooden transport packaging
  • Invoice, contract and shipping documents
  • Technical specifications - dimensions, moisture, grade
  • Claims and reconciliation reports on handover and acceptance

Production and safety

  • Instructions for sawing and drying equipment
  • Machinery safety rules and briefings for workers
  • Occupational safety audit reports
  • Contracts for buying and servicing machinery
  • Sections of environmental impact assessments

In this field a foreign buyer often sends a document back because of a single term - for example, a wrong name for a wood species or a treatment method. So we give species names in their international form and, where needed, add the Latin name in brackets. Dimensions and moisture values go through a separate checking step, because it is in the figures that the most expensive mistakes happen.

For a small workshop going abroad for the first time we prepare one set: a company description, a product specification and a standard contract in English. That package makes a serious impression from the very first negotiation.

The national park, ecotourism and donors

Borjomi-Kharagauli National Park is one of the largest protected areas in Europe, and Akhaldaba lies within its orbit. Two types of text come from here. The first is tourism: trail descriptions, safety instructions for hikers, rules for shelters and campsites, guides' working material, information on flora and fauna. The second is project work: grant applications, budgets, monitoring reports, training material and memoranda with international organisations that fund forest restoration, biodiversity and rural development. A project text has the donor's language and structure - indicators, a results framework, a risk matrix - and it is exactly that framework that has to survive translation, or the application loses points at the assessment stage. For such documentation we create one shared terminology base, and a single translator follows the whole project cycle.

Honey, herbs and small-scale production

The forest around Akhaldaba gives beekeeping and wild plant gathering a good base, and in recent years these products have started to look towards export as well. Selling honey, tea and herbs on European and Middle Eastern markets requires translation of laboratory analyses, the label and the product description - ingredients, storage conditions, shelf life, allergens, the producer's details. The label text is a special case: space is tight and the requirements are strict, so we prepare versions of different lengths so that the designer has a choice and the content does not suffer. Organic certification documents, inspection reports and supply contracts are handled in the same package.

Family papers and everyday matters

Alongside exports and projects, Akhaldaba also sends us the most ordinary orders, and they need no less attention. A student takes a school certificate and diploma to a foreign university, a family member working abroad needs salary and insurance certificates in Georgian, an elderly person needs Soviet-era employment records for a pension recalculation, a young family needs birth and marriage certificates for a consulate. A separate category is the papers that come with cars imported from abroad, and bank documents for loans or transfers. Orders of this type are usually done quickly - in one to three days - and their main requirement is accuracy in proper names: the Latin spelling of the surname is fixed from the valid passport and the same form is repeated in every later document for the family, so that the authority has no further questions.

Languages in orders from Akhaldaba

From Akhaldaba we most often work with English - the language of exports, certification and communication with donors. German is the language of machinery and European buyers, Italian of the wood products and food markets, Turkish of the nearest market and of materials, Russian of older documents and regional buyers, Arabic of honey and natural product exports. Also available: French, Spanish, Greek, Polish, Czech, Ukrainian, Dutch and Chinese.

Three forms of certification - which one and when

Before an order starts we need to settle one question: in what form the translation has to be confirmed. The first and most common option is certification by the bureau - the translation carries our stamp, a signature and a statement that the text matches the original; that is enough for commercial correspondence, invoices, technical and tourism material. The second is notarization, where a notary confirms the authenticity of the translator's signature - state authorities, banks, courts and educational institutions ask for it. The third is an apostille, which concerns the Georgian document itself and makes it officially recognised abroad. These three steps do not replace one another and are often combined in one package: first the apostille on the original, then the translation, and finally the notary. If you are not sure which one you need, tell us where you are submitting the document - that one sentence often settles the question and spares you unnecessary expense.

The process from Akhaldaba

1

Send us the material

A photo or PDF by WhatsApp to 501 113 200, or by email to info@targmanebi.ge. Project documentation is best sent as an editable file so the tables and frameworks are preserved.

2

Who will read it

A foreign buyer, a certification body, a donor or a Georgian authority - that decides the language, the style and whether certification is needed.

3

Terms agreed once

With your very first order we build a terminology base for your field - species, standards, indicators - and the same words are used in every text that follows.

4

Delivery

The file by email, paper by courier on the Borjomi route. Notarization is done when the document goes to an authority or a court; a commercial text is usually fine with the bureau stamp.

Price, deadlines and responsibility

Akhaldaba is served on the same terms as Tbilisi, with no extra charge for distance; the price is by agreement and is set after we see the document. An invoice or one-page certificate is ready the same day, a phytosanitary certificate and a technical specification in one to two days, an export contract in two to three days, a grant application with its budget and frameworks on an agreed schedule depending on volume, a label and product description package in two days, notarization within one day of the translation being ready, and an apostille within the time the procedure takes. If a donor deadline is closing in, we hand the text over in parts so that you can finish the final version in time. Commercial terms, laboratory results and project ideas are confidential information - we can also fix that in a contract if you need. The TARGMANEBI brand belongs to the sole trader Mariam Zumadze (ID 30601010853), so payment goes through an official invoice - which matters for project reporting. Any error on our side is corrected free of charge.

Frequently asked questions - translation in Akhaldaba

We make wood products and have our first order from abroad. What needs translating?

Usually the contract and invoice, the product specification with dimensions and moisture, the origin document and, depending on the packaging, the treatment report. We recommend preparing a standard bilingual contract from the start - then only the details change for each new buyer.

The donor needs the application in English and the deadline is short. How fast can you do it?

We usually work on a project text in parts: the narrative first, then the budget and the framework. That way nothing piles up at the end and you can fill in the application alongside. We agree the exact schedule as soon as we see the text.

There is little space on the label and the text comes out long.

That is why we prepare several versions of different lengths - full, shortened and minimal - so the designer can choose. Mandatory information, such as allergens and storage conditions, stays in every version.

The machinery manual is in German and our workers need it in Georgian.

Manuals like that are done by a translator specialising in technical texts. If you only need the safety and operation part, we translate just those chapters instead of the whole book - that cuts the cost considerably.

Do export documents need notarization?

In most cases no - the bureau's stamp and signature are enough for commercial documents. A notary becomes necessary when a document is submitted to a state authority, a bank or a court, and an apostille when a Georgian document goes to an official body in another country.

Does the courier come to Akhaldaba, or do I need to go to Borjomi?

The courier also comes to Akhaldaba on the Borjomi route - we will tell you the exact day when you order. If it is urgent, take the electronic version straight away; at the negotiation stage that is often all you need.
