A translation bureau for Bakurianis Andeziti - for us a small settlement works to the same standard as a regional centre: an order starts on the phone, you learn the price and the deadline as soon as we have seen the photo, and the certified paper comes back on the Bakuriani and Borjomi courier route. Our client here might be a stone workshop that needs a certificate for a foreign buyer; the heir to a dacha sending a power of attorney from Europe; or a family preparing a child's study documents. In every case the process is equally remote.
Stone, quarries and building materials
Andesite and tuff are well-known materials on the construction market, and local producers are increasingly trying to sell abroad. On that path the document matters no less than the material itself:
Quality and standards
- Laboratory test reports - strength, water absorption, frost resistance
- Declarations of conformity with European standards
- Reports from foreign certification bodies into Georgian
- Technical data sheet and material description
- Radiological and environmental safety certificates
Export and sales
- Supply contract with a foreign buyer
- Invoice, packing list and certificate of origin
- Shipping and insurance documents
- Commercial offers and price lists
- Claims and correspondence on quality
Production and machinery
- Instructions for stone cutting and polishing equipment
- Safety rules and briefing material for workers
- Machinery repair and service contracts
- Spare parts specifications
- Environmental plans and reports for donor projects
In texts like these the figure is everything: one misplaced decimal point in a strength value can cost the buyer's order. So in laboratory reports and specifications we check every number and unit of measurement separately, and standard numbers stay exactly as written in the original, so that an inspector can find them directly.
Who a bureau serves in a small settlement
People often ask whether it makes sense to contact a translation bureau from such a small settlement - the answer is simple: when you work remotely, distance does not matter. Our clients here fall mainly into four groups. The first is the stone workshops and their partners, who need technical and commercial texts. The second is owners of dachas and plots, some of whom live abroad and handle matters through a representative. The third is tourist services - small businesses linked to the train route, family guesthouses and guides. The fourth is simply families with study, medical or consular papers to translate. These groups need different things, but they have one thing in common: it matters to them not to have to go to Borjomi or Tbilisi, and to get an answer the same day.
The narrow-gauge railway and tourism texts
The Borjomi-Bakuriani narrow-gauge railway, which locals still call by its old name, has become a tourist attraction: foreign visitors come specifically for this train, and Bakurianis Andeziti is one of its stops. That brings a separate group of texts - historical notes, route descriptions, information boards, ticket conditions, captions for postcards and souvenirs. Such material needs no certification; instead, style decides everything: the text has to read as if it were written in that language from the start, while historical facts and dates stay accurate. We handle this kind of translation separately and, if you wish, also prepare a short version for a board where space is limited.
Dachas, land and inheritance
The dachas in the pine forest pass from generation to generation, and in almost every second case someone is abroad - in Germany, Greece, the US or Russia. That sets documents moving in both directions: an heir abroad sends a notarial power of attorney or a renunciation, which has to be submitted to the Public Registry in Georgian with notarization; in the other direction, Georgian registry extracts, death certificates and proof of kinship are prepared for a foreign authority with an apostille and a translation. Old Soviet-era property documents often turn up as well, in which the settlement's name and boundaries are recorded differently - we mark such places with a note and state how they correspond to the current name, so that the registry has no questions. When a foreign buyer purchases a plot, we prepare a bilingual sale agreement.
Construction, crews and contracts
From spring to autumn it is building season in the settlement: cottages, hotel extensions, retaining walls and roads. Foreign materials, foreign machinery and sometimes a foreign engineer or investor supervising the site from afar are often involved in this work. That produces the group of documents we work on most often: the construction contract and bill of quantities, material certificates, certificates of completed work, text accompanying photo reports, cost estimates and change agreements. Two things are critical in such documents - amounts and deadlines - so we compare the figures against the original in a separate step and leave the clause numbering unchanged, so that the parties can refer each other to a specific clause. It is best to sign the contract in two languages; then, even in a dispute, it is clear what the parties agreed.
Languages in orders from the settlement
Here English comes first - the language of certificates, exports and tourism texts. Russian appears in old documents and correspondence with post-Soviet markets, German in equipment instructions and the papers of heirs living in Germany, Italian in documents from the stone and marble market, Turkish in dealings with the neighbouring market and construction companies. As needed, we also work with Greek, Spanish, French, Polish, Czech, Ukrainian, Dutch, Arabic and Chinese.
How we work in a small settlement
A photo or a scan
Send it by WhatsApp to 501 113 200 or to info@targmanebi.ge. A multi-page technical document is best sent as a PDF, together with its tables.
Purpose
A foreign buyer, the Public Registry, a foreign notary or a tourist board - that decides whether a notary and an apostille are needed, or whether the bureau stamp is enough.
A translator who knows the field
A laboratory report is done by a technical translator, an inheritance document by a legal one, a tourism text by a translator who works on style; figures and proper names are checked separately.
Delivery
The file by email straight away, paper by courier on the Bakuriani and Borjomi route, or from the Tbilisi office if you are coming to the capital anyway.
Price, deadlines and reliability
The small size of the settlement does not affect the price - the terms are the same as in the capital; the price is by agreement and is set after we see the document. A one-page certificate or invoice with the bureau stamp is ready the same or the next day, a laboratory report and technical data sheet in two to three days, a bilingual supply contract in three days, a power of attorney or inheritance document with notarization in two days, a package with an apostille allowing for the time the procedure takes, and tourism texts according to volume. Regular partners receive a price schedule in advance so they can plan their budget. Commercial terms, laboratory results and family matters are equally confidential for us. The bureau's legal form is a sole trader (Mariam Zumadze, ID 30601010853), which means invoices and contracts are issued officially; if an error on our side is confirmed, the correction is free.
A foreign buyer has asked for a certificate in English? A power of attorney arrived from Germany and you need a translation for the registry? Want text for a tourist board? Send us a photo - people contact us from Bakurianis Andeziti just as easily as from a city.

We run a stone workshop and want our first order from abroad. What is the minimum that needs translating?
Usually a technical data sheet with the material's properties, a laboratory test report and a commercial offer in English are enough; once supply is agreed, a contract, an invoice and a certificate of origin are added. This package is made once, and afterwards only the figures are updated.
The test reports are full of figures and standard numbers. Won't something get mixed up?
Figures and units of measurement are checked in a separate step, and standard numbers stay exactly as they are in the original - they are neither translated nor adapted. If the document has tables, we keep the same structure in the translation so it is easy to compare.
My grandfather's dacha is here and I live in Germany. How do I handle the inheritance?
A power of attorney drawn up with a notary in Germany must carry an apostille; it is then translated into Georgian and notarized, after which your representative can act at the registry. Send us a photo in advance: the wording of the text often needs clarifying before the document is sent officially.
In an old document the settlement is recorded under a different name. Will that be a problem?
Not if it is handled correctly: in the translation we keep the original record and give the current name in a note. Notes like that are exactly what usually stops the registry from asking further questions that drag the process out for weeks.
Do I need a notary for a tourism text?
No - an information board, a booklet or a historical note needs no certification; a good translation is enough, with the bureau stamp if needed. Certification becomes necessary when a document is submitted to an authority or a court.
Does the courier come out here?
Yes, on the Bakuriani and Borjomi route - we will tell you the exact day when you order. It is best to send several documents together in one go; the electronic version arrives as soon as it is ready, with no waiting at all.
