A translation bureau in Bakuriani - a service for a resort where a document's deadline is often measured in hours rather than days. Before a competition a federation needs athlete lists and medical clearances, a hotel needs a new employee's papers, a foreign instructor needs a Georgian version of their diploma and certificate, and a Georgian instructor needs the reverse: Georgian documents for an Austrian or Swiss school. We handle that flow remotely - a photo from a phone, a file in reply, certified paper by courier - so that nobody has to travel from Bakuriani to Tbilisi in the middle of the season.
The seasons show in our work too: November and December bring a wave of sports and personnel documents, January to March medical and insurance ones, spring construction and investment. So before the season starts we advise preparing templates for the recurring documents in advance - then during the season only the names and the dates change.
Competitions, federations, athletes
International ski and snowboard competitions leave Bakuriani a varied trail of paperwork. The most frequent groups:
Preparing the competition
- Organisational agreements and technical regulations
- Entry forms and team lists
- Course safety protocols and inspection reports
- Instructions for marshals and volunteers
- Press releases and information material for visitors
Athlete and coach
- Medical clearance and test results
- Coach's licence and qualification certificate
- Parental consent for a minor athlete
- Sports club contract and transfer documents
- Visa and invitation letters for foreign teams
Camps and schools
- Summer and training camp programmes
- Parents' informed consent and safety rules
- The child's medical card and list of allergies
- Memoranda for inter-school exchange programmes
- Teaching material and the supervisor's instructions
Terminology matters no less in sports texts than in legal ones: the names of disciplines, age categories and course elements have to be carried across in the form the federation uses, or an entry comes back on a technical ground. So one translator handles all the documentation for a single event, and the list starts from a shared glossary from the outset.
Instructors - certificates in both directions
Bakuriani's ski schools sit in a two-way market. On one side, Georgian instructors take courses in Austria, Italy and Switzerland and come back with foreign-language certificates that have to be presented in Georgian for employment or licensing at a Georgian school. On the other, foreign instructors arrive in Bakuriani for the season and their employer needs their diplomas, first aid certificates and references in Georgian. Added to that is the translation of Georgian papers for foreign schools - a certificate of work experience, a criminal record certificate, a health report. We keep two rules for such packages: the level stated in the certificate and the issuing organisation keep their original names, while the substance is explained, so that the recipient sees the qualification step correctly.
Injury, insurance, clinic
At a winter resort medical paperwork is unavoidable. A foreign guest injured on the slope sends their insurance company translations of the Georgian clinic's documents to be reimbursed: the first aid record, the X-ray and CT reports, the description of the operation, the discharge summary and the statement of costs. Such a translation has to be fast and made with a knowledge of medical terminology - diagnosis codes, drug names and anatomical terms exactly in the form the insurer expects. We work on these even when the patient has already left and the family writes from abroad - in that case everything is closed electronically. The reverse happens too: an arriving guest's chronic disease history or list of regular medications is translated into Georgian so that the local doctor can take it in quickly.
Seasonal staff and business
Hotels, restaurants and rental services employ hundreds of people for the season, foreigners among them - chefs, service managers, technicians. Their documents - passport, diploma, certificate of work experience, health book - are needed in Georgian with certification by the employer, while the employment contract and internal rules are needed in the employee's language. Equipment forms a separate flow: technical documentation for the lifts, the snow groomers and the snow cannons, safety instructions and service contracts that come from European manufacturers and are translated into Georgian for operation. Such texts go to a technical translator working from one shared terminology base, reused for every following manual.
An interpreter on the spot
The need for interpreting in Bakuriani often arises suddenly: a foreign team meeting the organisers, a negotiation with an equipment supplier, an investor visiting a site, or a conversation at a medical facility when an injured guest needs to be understood by the doctor. In such cases the interpreter travels from Tbilisi and is priced by working days, with travel and time on site taken into account - so a few days' notice is better. For short meetings a phone or video connection is often enough and is considerably cheaper and faster; we join that way at a hotel reception, in a clinic or in a conversation with the lift technicians. Before the meeting we need a short context - the subject, the participants and the terms that are certain to come up; that preparation improves the quality of interpreting sharply.
Languages in orders from Bakuriani
In Bakuriani English is the main language of sports and insurance communication, and Russian that of guests and often of staff. Because of winter sport, German is active (Austrian and Swiss schools and equipment), along with Italian and French (the Alpine regions), Polish and Czech (group tours and camps) and Ukrainian (guests and seasonal staff). Turkish and Arabic appear in hotel material, and Spanish, Greek, Dutch and Chinese with particular groups.
The process in season
Write to us straight from the slope
A photo or PDF by WhatsApp to 501 113 200 or to info@targmanebi.ge. If the matter concerns an injury, send all the clinic's sheets together - that way the package gathers on one number.
Fitting the deadline to the event
Tell us when the competition, the arrival or the insurer's deadline falls. We build the schedule around that date and move an urgent order up the queue.
A specialist translator
A medical text goes to a translator experienced in medicine, a technical manual to a technical one, a sports regulation to someone who knows the terminology of the sport; the editor checks numbers and names separately.
File at once, paper by courier
The electronic version reaches you as soon as it is ready and in most cases that is enough; the notarized version comes to Bakuriani by courier, or you collect it in Borjomi.
Price and turnaround at the resort
We have no surcharge for Bakuriani - the price is the same as in Tbilisi and the courier runs on the Borjomi route. A participant's certificate or a one-page sports document is ready the same day, a clinic's discharge summary and statement of costs in one to two days, a bilingual employment contract in two to three, a technical manual by volume, a certificate with notarization in two days, an apostille on the timing of the procedure. Seasonal clients - schools, hotels and organisers - are offered an agreed tariff, stored templates and a single monthly settlement. The content of medical and personnel documents is confidential: neither a patient's diagnosis nor an employee's salary is discussed outside the bureau. Legally the bureau is registered to the sole trader Mariam Zumadze (ID 30601010853) - a lawyer, who checks the wording of contracts and insurance texts herself. An error, if it is ours, is corrected free of charge.

A guest was injured on the slope and the clinic issued a Georgian discharge summary. The insurer needs English - how long?
One to two days, and the same day on the urgent regime - the discharge summary, the test reports and the statement of costs as one package. The medical part is handled by a translator experienced in medical terminology, and the diagnosis and medication names are carried across in the form the insurer will accept.
I took an instructor course in Austria. How do I use the certificate here?
The certificate and its supplement are translated into Georgian, normally with notarization; the qualification level and the issuing organisation keep their original names, with an explanation added in brackets. If the employer or the licensing body has required a specific form, send it to us and we will match it.
We are competition organisers with regulations and entry lists to translate. Can it be one package?
Yes, and we recommend it: all the documents for one event go on one number and from one glossary, so that the names of disciplines and categories are identical everywhere. During competition days, corrected lists are done without a queue.
I have hired a foreign chef for the hotel. What gets translated for them?
For the employer - the passport, the diploma or course certificate and the health document in Georgian, certified; for the employee - the employment contract and internal rules in their language. The contract can also be executed bilingually, which reduces the risk of a dispute.
The lift technical manual is in German. Who can do it in Georgian?
A technical translator - we agree the deadline by volume and fix the terminology base together with you, so that the next manual arrives in the same words. Such a text normally needs no certification; the bureau stamp is enough.
Can we prepare documents before the season?
That is the most convenient approach: in November we prepare templates for the recurring documents once - contracts, instructions, information sheets - and during the season only the names and dates change, which saves both time and cost.
