A translation bureau in Chakvi - TARGMANEBI's service for a town that is geographically an extension of Batumi but keeps a rhythm of its own. Dozens of residential complexes have gone up along the Chakvi seafront in recent years, and a large share of their flats were bought by foreigners - to live in, for holidays or as an investment. The Botanical Garden, Green Cape and Chakvi beach keep the tourist flow going, while the people of Chakvi and the surrounding villages - Buknari, Kapreshumi, Khala - work and study in Batumi and live with ordinary family paperwork.
That is why orders from Chakvi come in two kinds: in summer - apartment deals, lease agreements, hotel material and the documents of foreign guests; all year round - documents for students at Batumi universities, for family members working abroad and for young people leaving to study abroad. The scheme is the same for both: a photo or a file from Chakvi, translation and certification at the central office, the original by courier to Chakvi or Batumi. The only difference is the rhythm - in summer we count deadlines in hours rather than days, while in winter the queue is short and a one-page document often comes back the same day.
An apartment in Chakvi - buying, letting, managing
In the new Chakvi complexes the owner of a flat is often a foreigner who comes for a month or two a year, with the flat let out the rest of the time. That arrangement comes with documents at three stages:
When buying
- The developer's sale or preliminary contract in two languages
- The buyer's passport in Georgian, with notarization
- A power of attorney for a representative if the buyer does not travel
- The registry extract and the commissioning certificate in the buyer's language
- An interpreter at the notary
When letting
- A management agreement with a company or a manager
- Short-term lease agreements with guests
- House rules and check-in instructions in three languages
- Inventory list and damage report
- Reports for the owner
While owning
- Homeowners' association statutes and utility terms
- Tax registration and returns in the owner's language
- Documents for a residence permit application
- A resale or gift contract
- Inheritance documents if the owner has died
At the letting stage three languages are often needed at once - Georgian, Russian and English - for the house rules, the check-in instructions and the guest agreement. We prepare such a package from a single source, so the terms read the same in every language and no guest can claim that "the Russian version said something else".
Botanical Garden, Green Cape and the tourism business
The Batumi Botanical Garden lies within Chakvi, and local hotels, guesthouses, cafes and guides work with its visitors. Their orders typically look like this: room and terms descriptions for Booking and Airbnb, a cafe menu with prices, tour texts for the garden and Green Cape, a website and Instagram posts, a contract with a Batumi tour operator, rules for renting sunbeds and bicycles. Tourism texts need no certification, and the focus is on style: plant and place names have to be spelled identically in every piece of material, in their international form.
A separate stream around the Botanical Garden is scientific and educational cooperation: visits by foreign botanists, joint research memoranda, student internship agreements with universities abroad, grant applications to preserve the garden's collections. In such documents botanical terminology and the official names of institutions have to be carried across precisely - they are translated by a translator experienced in scientific texts.
Families working in Batumi and going abroad
Beyond its tourism profile Chakvi is an ordinary Adjarian town. Students of Batumi State University and the Maritime Academy translate school certificates, grade sheets and certificates for exchange programmes; seafarers need maritime diplomas and certificates in English; family members working abroad need civil status certificates, criminal record certificates, medical reports and powers of attorney. These documents usually require notarization and an apostille, which we arrange without you having to leave Chakvi.
Seafarers' documents deserve a separate mention: the Maritime Academy diploma, certificates of competency, the medical fitness certificate and the seaman's record book are translated into English for foreign crewing companies, while a foreign contract and salary statement for a Georgian bank go into Georgian. Maritime terminology - ranks, vessel types, certificate codes - is checked against the international standard.
Languages in orders from Chakvi
Because of apartment owners and guests, Russian and Ukrainian lead in Chakvi, English is needed for platforms, crewing and European guests, and Turkish for construction, trade and family ties. Polish, German, Arabic and Chinese are growing directions; Italian, French, Spanish, Greek, Dutch and Czech are available on request. For documents in Hebrew we confirm availability after seeing them.
Interpreter at the notary and at the deal
A deal with a foreign buyer or owner is formalised before a notary in Chakvi or Batumi, and the notary requires the foreign party to be accompanied by an interpreter. We book the interpreter a few days ahead: they read the draft contract in advance, explain the clauses to the buyer in their language during the deal and finally sign the notary's register confirming that the interpretation was correct. If you also need the bank and a meeting with the homeowners' association chair on the same day, we combine everything into one visit - the trip to Chakvi is paid for only once.
A separate case is when the buyer speaks some Georgian and the interpreter seems "unnecessary" to them. The notary makes that decision alone and in practice still asks for an interpreter for the foreign party - a contract that one side did not fully understand can later be challenged. The cost of one visit is far smaller than that risk.

In your hands
The file - straight away, in the chat. Paper - by courier to Chakvi, to your workplace in Batumi, or at the Tbilisi office if you are coming anyway.
There is no surcharge for ordering from Chakvi; the cost depends on the language, the volume, the type of document and any additional procedures, while the courier and the interpreter's visit are separate items known in advance. The price is always by agreement and is agreed after we see the document. What a foreigner paid for a flat and on what terms a hotel works with a platform would spread quickly in Chakvi's small market, so access to files is limited to two people and we give developers a written confidentiality undertaking. Behind TARGMANEBI stands the sole trader Mariam Zumadze (ID 30601010853), who is responsible for every order; any mistake of ours is corrected free of charge.

I am buying an apartment in Chakvi but I am not in Georgia. Can I use a representative?
Yes - with a power of attorney drawn up before a notary in your country, apostilled and with a notarized Georgian translation. Send us a photo straight from abroad: we will prepare the translation and certify it as soon as the original arrives; your representative will attend the deal together with our interpreter.
How long do house rules for a rental flat take in Russian and English?
One or two pages of house rules and check-in instructions in two languages are ready in one or two working days. If you also need a guest agreement, we prepare everything as one package so the terms are worded identically everywhere.
I am a seafarer and the crewing company wants my diploma and certificates in English. Do I need a notary?
Most crewing companies accept a translation certified with the bureau stamp, some require a notarized one. Send us the company's requirement; we check maritime terminology against the international standard, and the turnaround is one or two working days.
Will the interpreter come to a notary in Batumi too, or only in Chakvi?
Both - Chakvi and Batumi, by prior arrangement. The interpreter reads the contract before the deal and the visit is charged by duration; on the same day you can take them along to the bank or another office as well.
A foreign owner has died and the flat is in Chakvi. How are the inheritance documents translated?
The foreign death certificate, certificate of inheritance or court decision and the heirs' documents are translated into Georgian with notarization - for the Georgian notary and the registry. We handle the case as one package so the names are spelled the same everywhere.
The developer gave me a bilingual contract, but the Russian version looks suspicious. Can you check it?
Yes - send both versions and a translator will compare them clause by clause: where the amount, the deadline, liability or termination terms differ. You receive a written comparison report and can point the developer to specific clauses before signing. It costs less than a translation and is often more useful.
How are the Latin plant names handled in a Botanical Garden tour description?
Latin names stay unchanged, while local and English names are written alongside them - the way international botanical material does it. This is a tourism text and needs no certification.
