A translation bureau for Keda - TARGMANEBI's service for a municipality where Turkish is not a foreign language but a neighbour's language. Many Keda families have relatives in Turkey, many local men cross the Sarpi border for seasonal work, young people study at Turkish universities, and some marry there. Every such link produces a document - one issued in Turkey that Georgia needs in Georgian, or a Georgian one that Turkey needs in Turkish.
Keda municipality's second direction is Europe: family members working in Germany, Poland and Italy, young people going to Europe to study. The third, newer one is tourism - the Makhuntseti waterfall, Queen Tamar's bridge, the wine cellars of Merisi and Vaio, family guesthouses that need materials in foreign languages. The same remote scheme works for all three: a photo from Keda, translation and certification in Tbilisi, the original back by courier.
Documents issued in Turkey - into Georgian
The most frequent order from Keda is a notarized Georgian translation of a Turkish original. Georgian institutions - the Public Service Hall, schools, the pension agency, banks, notaries - accept a Turkish document only with a certified translation and, in most cases, a Turkish apostille.
Family documents
- A certificate of marriage concluded in Turkey
- The birth certificate of a child born in Turkey
- An extract from the Turkish civil registry (nüfus kayıt örneği)
- A divorce decision from a Turkish court
- Documents proving kinship for inheritance
Work and social
- An employment contract with a Turkish employer
- Work permit and residence card
- Turkish social security (SGK) certificates
- A salary statement for a Georgian bank
- A medical report from a Turkish clinic
Education and business
- A Turkish university diploma and transcript
- A language course certificate
- A Turkish company's trade register extract
- Invoice and bill of sale for cross-border trade
- A power of attorney from a Turkish partner
Translating Turkish documents needs special attention to the transliteration of names: a Georgian surname written in Turkish spelling - for example "Şervaşidze" or "Cakeli" - has to go back into the form that appears on the Georgian ID, exactly as it is there, and not the way it sounds from the Turkish. That is why, together with a Turkish document, we always ask for a photo of the Georgian ID as well.
Georgian documents - for Turkey
In the opposite direction, Keda families prepare documents for Turkish authorities: for marriage - a certificate of marital status and a birth certificate; for a work permit - a diploma, a criminal record certificate and a medical certificate; for study - a school-leaving certificate and mark sheet; for business - a company extract and a power of attorney. Turkish authorities as a rule require a Georgian document with an apostille and a Turkish translation; some authorities recognise a translation only from a Turkish yeminli tercüman (sworn translator) - in that case our job is only the apostille and we do not charge you for a translation. We will tell you before you order which route is right for your case.
Studying at Turkish universities is a topic of its own for Keda's young people: the universities of Trabzon, Rize and Istanbul ask Georgian applicants for a Turkish translation of the school-leaving certificate, mark sheet and language certificate, and after graduation the Turkish diploma has to be translated into Georgian for recognition in Georgia. At both stages subject names and the grading system have to come across so that the receiving university can see the credits - for that we run a separate check of the academic terminology.
Europe and other directions
Besides Turkey, a flow of documents goes from Keda municipality towards Europe as well. Employers, universities and embassies in Germany, Poland and Italy ask for translations of the school-leaving certificate and diploma, birth and marriage certificates, the criminal record certificate, bank statements, medical reports and consents - with notarization and apostille. We translate into English, German, Polish, Italian, Russian, Ukrainian, French, Spanish, Greek, Arabic, Chinese, Dutch and Czech, while Turkish is a separate priority for Keda.
Cross-border trade and small business via Sarpi
The economy of Keda municipality is tied to the Turkish market: honey, Chkhaveri wine, hazelnuts, fruit and handmade products go out through Sarpi, while building materials, machinery and consumer goods come back in. For this a small business needs a short but precise package of documents - an invoice and bill of sale in Turkish, a certificate of origin, the Turkish partner's company extract in Georgian, and for the bank, documents confirming money received from abroad. Customs and buyers as a rule accept these documents with a translation certified by the bureau stamp, which is quicker and cheaper than notarization.
For those who work through Sarpi regularly we have a template scheme: an invoice and contract form translated once, which is then filled in only with the changing data. This cuts the cost per shipment several times over and keeps product names the same in every document.
Tourism in the Adjaristskali valley
The Makhuntseti waterfall and Queen Tamar's bridge are a regular stop on day tours from Batumi, and the cellars of Merisi and Vaio offer tastings of Chkhaveri and Tsolikouri. Around this, family guesthouses, restaurants and guides are appearing in Keda, and they need hotel descriptions, menus, tour programmes, wine lists and contracts with Batumi tour operators in English, Russian and Turkish. Such text is prepared quickly, without certification; what matters is the style and consistent transliteration of place names.
How do I send a document from the villages of the valley?
A photo on your phone
Every page, the back too, in good light. By WhatsApp or by email to info@targmanebi.ge. With a Turkish document, attach a photo of the Georgian ID as well.
The purpose
Which authority or country, and by what date. For Turkey, name the authority as well - it decides whether we prepare the translation here or only add the apostille.
Confirmation, translation, certification
We fix the price, the day and the form in advance. A Turkish translator does the translation, an editor checks names and numbers, the notary and apostille are in Tbilisi. The original is collected only for an apostille.
Delivery in Keda
The electronic version as soon as it is finished; the original by courier to Keda on an agreed day. Anyone who has to go to Batumi or Tbilisi anyway can collect the original at the Tbilisi office, 118 Davit Aghmashenebeli Ave.
Deadlines, price and who is responsible
A one-page Turkish certificate sent during working hours is usually translated by the next day; the notary takes another one to two days, and the length of the apostille depends on which authority issued the document. The price is set by the language, the number of pages and any additional procedures; there is no surcharge for ordering from Keda, and the courier is a separate charge agreed in advance. We tell you the final price as soon as we see the document, and we do not change it once work has started.
Keda orders are followed by the person whose name stands behind TARGMANEBI: Mariam Zumadze, sole trader (ID 30601010853), a lawyer by education with five years of practice. We work Monday to Friday 10:00-19:00 and on Saturday 11:00-19:00. If we make a mistake, the translation is corrected free of charge and you will not need to send anything again from the valley - just tell us by WhatsApp which passage is in question.
Have a Turkish marriage certificate, diploma or contract you need for a Georgian authority? Or the other way round - a Georgian paper for Turkey? Send us a photo from Keda and you will no longer need the road to Batumi and Tbilisi.

How do I register a marriage concluded in Turkey in Georgia?
The Turkish marriage certificate has to be certified with an apostille in Turkey and then given a notarized Georgian translation - which is what we do. Both spouses' names are written in line with the Georgian ID; send a photo of the ID together with the certificate.
A Turkish employer wants a Turkish translation of my Georgian diploma. Should I have it done here or in Turkey?
It depends on the authority: some Turkish authorities accept a translation certified in Georgia, others only one by a Turkish sworn translator. Tell us the employer or authority and we will tell you - in either case the diploma needs an apostille, which we arrange here.
Is a translation from Turkish into Georgian notarized?
Yes. The translation is prepared by a Turkish translator, and the notary certifies the authenticity of the translator's signature on a statement that the translation is accurate. This form is standard for Georgian authorities.
Will a Turkish SGK certificate do for a Georgian bank loan?
Most banks accept a foreign income statement with a Georgian translation - some with the bureau stamp, some notarized. Send us the bank's requirement and we will prepare the right form.
How do I meet the courier from a village in the valley?
A courier trip up to the valley villages is priced separately, so most people collect the original in the centre of Keda on a day agreed in advance - by a shop, at the municipality building or wherever suits you. If you often go to Batumi, we can also agree to hand it over there.
Should I send the birth certificate and the criminal record certificate for Germany together?
Better together - we prepare them as one package so that the spelling of names and the terminology are the same in both, the apostille is done in one go and the courier comes once. A criminal record certificate has a limited validity, so get it last.
