A translation bureau for Ochkhamuri - TARGMANEBI's service for a town where nobody expects a translation bureau to open, yet document translation is needed just as much as in Batumi. People in Ochkhamuri, Alambari, Chakvistavi, Khutsubani and the surrounding villages usually look in Kobuleti or Batumi for someone to translate and certify their papers - and lose a day doing it. With us that trip is no longer necessary: a photo from Ochkhamuri, translation and certification at the central office, the original back by courier.
Orders from Ochkhamuri come from three sources. The first is the land: tangerine, tea and hazelnut farmers who ship their produce to Turkey, Ukraine, Russia and Europe or take part in foreign grant programmes. The second is cars: in Adjara, as in the whole of western Georgia, many cars come in from American and European auctions, and their documents have to be translated into Georgian. The third is families with members abroad, students and seasonal workers. In all three cases the document is short but full of figures - and it is precisely an error in the figures that costs a person most, so we check them twice.
Car import - title, invoice, bill of sale
To register cars arriving through the ports of Poti and Batumi, the Public Service Development Agency and customs require foreign documents with a Georgian translation. This is a case where the translation is simple, but a single wrong digit - in the VIN, the year or the engine size - means the registration is put on hold.
From an American auction
- Title (certificate of ownership) and its brands (salvage, rebuilt)
- Bill of Sale / auction invoice
- Shipping waybill and container documents
- Proof of payment
- Damage report for the insurer
From Europe and Turkey
- Registration certificate (Fahrzeugbrief, carte grise and others)
- Sale and purchase contract
- Roadworthiness and emissions document
- Deregistration certificate
- Translation of the seller's passport or company extract
After registration
- The Georgian vehicle registration certificate when reselling to a foreign buyer
- A power of attorney to drive the car abroad
- Green card and insurance terms
- Technical manual and service book
- Leasing or instalment contract
The agency accepts translations of car documents either with the bureau stamp or notarized - the requirement depends on the type of document. When you send the photo, tell us where you will submit it and we will prepare the right form; the VIN, year, colour, engine and mileage are checked against the original digit by digit. A title and invoice translation usually takes one working day - sent in the morning, it is ready by the evening or the next morning.
A tip for photographing car documents: photograph both sides of the title, because transfer records and the auction stamp are often on the back; take the VIN field separately, close up, so that 0 and O, 1 and I do not get mixed up; and send the auction invoice as a PDF if that is how it arrived by email. That way the translation comes out right the first time and you do not have to go back to the agency again.
Tangerines, tea, hazelnuts - farm export documents
Every autumn citrus from the Ochkhamuri orchards goes to Turkey, Ukraine, Russia and the Baltic states, and tea and hazelnuts go to Europe as well. For that a farmer or cooperative needs a contract with the buyer, an invoice and packing list, a certificate of origin, a phytosanitary certificate and a laboratory analysis, and for grant programmes a business plan and a report in the donor's language. In the opposite direction, instructions for foreign machinery, buyers' claims and the requirements of international standards are translated into Georgian. Tea has a story of its own: old plantations around Ochkhamuri are being restored, and small producers are looking for European organic certification and direct buyers - which brings translation of applications, inspection reports and labels.
Family documents from Ochkhamuri
Members of many Ochkhamuri families work in Turkey, Poland, Germany and Italy, young people study at Batumi universities and abroad, and some are seafarers. That is where the everyday papers come from - someone who needs a visa needs certificates in the embassy's language; someone going to study needs a school certificate and diploma; someone taking a child abroad needs the other parent's consent; someone already there sends back a power of attorney or a salary statement for a bank. All of these documents either have to be notarized and apostilled or, if they come from abroad, translated into Georgian for a Georgian notary and authority.
Both directions follow one rule: everyone sends from wherever they are. A parent who stayed in Ochkhamuri photographs the certificate on the phone, a son or daughter in Poland sends the contract, and both come together in one order. The finished translation goes electronically to both, and the original goes to where it has to be submitted - mostly Ochkhamuri, by courier.
Languages in orders from Ochkhamuri
Because of American auctions and European buyers, more than half of the orders from Ochkhamuri are in English. The citrus market keeps Turkish, Ukrainian and Russian alive, cars brought from Europe bring German, Dutch and French, and the countries where families work bring Polish, Italian and Greek. We also work with Spanish, Czech, Arabic and Chinese, although these rarely come from Ochkhamuri.

The original with you
We send the file as soon as it is finished. The stamped or certified version is brought by courier to Ochkhamuri or Kobuleti; anyone going to Tbilisi anyway can collect it themselves at 118 Davit Aghmashenebeli Ave.
Price, deadline and guarantee
A client in Ochkhamuri pays no more than one in Tbilisi - there is one price list, and the price is agreed after we see the document, taking into account its language, the number of pages, its type (title, invoice, certificate or contract) and whether a notary or apostille is needed. The courier charge is shown separately, and when you send several documents together you pay it once. A standard car package takes one working day, with notarization two to three; an apostille takes as long as the authority that issued the particular document requires. TARGMANEBI is the brand of the sole trader Mariam Zumadze (ID 30601010853, Tbilisi, 118 Davit Aghmashenebeli Ave, Monday-Friday 10:00-19:00, Saturday 11:00-19:00); if an inaccuracy on our side turns up in a translation - say, one character of a VIN - we correct it free of charge after checking and certify it again.

Does the translation of an American title have to be notarized for the agency?
The requirement depends on the type of document and the particular branch - sometimes the bureau stamp is enough, sometimes a notary is needed. When you send the photo, tell us where you will submit it and we will prepare the right form; either way the VIN is checked digit by digit.
How long will the auction invoice and the title take together?
A standard title and invoice sent during working hours are usually in your hands by the end of the day or the next morning; notarization takes another one to two days. If it is urgent, call us - we will tell you the exact deadline.
Which documents does a Turkish buyer usually ask for with tangerines?
The contract, the invoice, the packing list, the certificate of origin and the phytosanitary certificate, in Turkish or English. Customs accepts a translation certified with the bureau stamp; check the buyer's contract to see whether a notarized form is required.
What does a Georgian translation of a German Fahrzeugbrief cover?
Every field of the registration certificate - owner, VIN, engine, emission class, date of first registration, technical data - in terminology the Georgian agency understands. The sale contract and the deregistration certificate are translated in the same package.
I have restored a tea plantation and am applying for European organic certification. What gets translated?
The certification body's application, the plantation description and the maintenance log, soil and product analyses into English, and then the inspector's report and the standard's requirements into Georgian. An interpreter for the inspector's visit is also possible, by prior arrangement.
Will the courier come to Ochkhamuri or do I have to go to Kobuleti?
Either is possible: the courier comes to Ochkhamuri on an agreed day and place, or you collect the original in Kobuleti at a point convenient for you. Many clients collect it while at work in Batumi - that is possible too.
My son is going to Poland for work. Which documents will he need?
Polish employers mostly ask for a document proving the profession, a criminal record certificate and a birth certificate in Polish, with apostille and notarization; some also want a medical certificate. The exact list is in the employer's letter - send it to us and we will prepare only what is really needed.
