A translation bureau for Nasakirali - TARGMANEBI's service for a town where a change in family status often has to be formalised in two countries. A person from Nasakirali who divorced in Athens or Rome is still legally married in Georgia until the foreign decision is recognised here; someone who married an Italian or a Greek still carries the old surname in the Georgian passport; someone whose child was born abroad has a child who does not exist in the Georgian register. Each of these cases needs a specific chain of documents, and that chain is our job.
From Nasakirali it is fifteen minutes to Ozurgeti, an hour and a half to Kutaisi and four hours to Tbilisi. Translation of the court decision, notarization and the apostille are handled at our Tbilisi office, and your part is limited to one photo and one courier delivery. A document that is abroad you send us directly from there - you do not need to come to Nasakirali even for that.
Divorce abroad - how it is recognised in Georgia
A divorce decision by a foreign court or authority does not take effect in Georgia automatically. First it needs an apostille in the issuing country, then a Georgian translation with notarization, and then it goes through the recognition procedure - at the Public Service Hall or in court, depending on the country and the type of decision. Our part is the translation, but whether the authority accepts the document the first time depends precisely on the translation.
What gets translated
- The court decision in full, including the reasoning
- The certificate that the decision has entered into force
- The agreement on children, maintenance and property
- A Greek or Italian municipal extract with the divorce entry
- The apostille page - it is a separate text and is translated too
What we check with special care
- Both spouses' names against the Georgian passport
- The children's names and dates of birth
- Court, case and decision numbers
- Dates - of the claim, the hearing, entry into force
- Legal terms: custody, place of residence, maintenance
What you may need in addition
- The Georgian marriage certificate, if the marriage took place here
- A certificate that the divorce is not registered in Georgia
- A power of attorney for a representative, if you cannot come yourself
- The child's foreign birth certificate
- A translation into the other spouse's language, if he or she is a foreign national
A foreign divorce decision often runs to dozens of pages, much of it procedural text. Authorities as a rule ask for a full translation, but in some cases the operative part and the certificate of entry into force are enough - this depends on the specific authority, and we find out before you order so that you do not pay for forty pages instead of ten.
Remarriage, surname and a child from abroad
After the divorce is recognised - or, often, together with it - comes the second stage. To remarry abroad you need a Georgian certificate stating that you are not married, and that certificate is issued only when the previous divorce is registered in Georgia too. After the wedding, the foreign marriage certificate is translated into Georgian for entry in the Georgian register and, if the surname has changed, for a new passport. The birth certificate of a child born abroad goes the same way. At all three stages the spelling of names and surnames has to match - the old surname in the old documents, the new one in the new documents, and the moment of transition backed by the name change record.
One distinctive case for a family spread across two countries is child maintenance: a foreign divorce decision sets child support in euros or another currency, and enforcing it in Georgia requires a separate court procedure alongside the translation of the decision. In the translation the amount, the currency, the payment method and the deadline are carried over word for word and figure for figure, without interpretation - enforcement rests on exactly these entries.
Nasakirali resort - medical and hotel documents
Nasakirali's sulphur and mineral waters have made the resort known since the Soviet period, and in recent years new hotels and treatment programmes have been appearing here, along with foreign guests. For the resort we translate descriptions of treatment programmes and their indications, hotel texts for booking platforms, patient referrals and the resort doctor's reports, invoices for insurance companies, contracts with tour operators and, for investors, documentation for sanatorium rehabilitation projects. Medical text is translated by a translator with the matching specialism, tourism text by a style-focused translator, and investment material by legal and technical specialists.
Everyday Gurian papers from Nasakirali
Beyond family status, the people of Nasakirali need the same things as the rest of Guria: a power of attorney from abroad for a parent, consent for a child to travel, a school certificate and diploma for a foreign university, a Soviet work record book for a pension, a foreign salary statement for a bank, a criminal record certificate to extend a residence permit. All of these are translated and certified through the same remote scheme, with courier delivery to Nasakirali or Ozurgeti.
Languages in orders from Nasakirali
The geography of divorce and remarriage documents follows Gurian emigration: Greek and Italian court decisions are the most frequent, German and Polish for younger families, English for mixed couples and resort guests. Russian and Ukrainian serve patients coming to the resort, Turkish serves mixed marriages; we have also worked with French, Spanish, Arabic, Chinese, Dutch and Czech decisions.
Steps - from a divorce decision to a Georgian record
The decision with an apostille
Have the apostille placed on the decision in the issuing country - it is done there and cannot be added in Georgia. Send photos or scans of every page by WhatsApp or by email to info@targmanebi.ge.
Which authority and what volume
Tell us where you will submit it - the Public Service Hall or a court - and we will tell you whether a full translation is needed or just the operative part. The price is fixed once, based on the volume.
Legal translation and notary
The decision is translated by a translator with a legal background, names and numbers are checked against the passport and the original, and then the translation is notarized. The original is not needed at this stage.
Delivery and the next stage
You receive the file straight away and the certified paper by courier to Nasakirali or Ozurgeti. You file the recognition application yourself or through a representative; if you need one, we add the translation of the power of attorney to the same package.
Price, deadline and who is responsible
A court decision is legal text and costs more per page than a certificate, but leaving out the procedural part, where the authority allows it, reduces the total considerably; the exact price is agreed after we see the document. The deadline depends on volume: a ten-page decision with notarization is usually ready in three to four working days, a one-page certificate in two. There is no surcharge for ordering from Nasakirali; the courier is a separate item. Every TARGMANEBI order is the responsibility of the sole trader Mariam Zumadze (ID 30601010853) - a lawyer by education, which guarantees the right terminology in family law documents. Family status documents are confidential, and a confirmed error is corrected free of charge.

I got divorced in Greece, but in Georgia I am still registered as married. What are the stages?
The Greek decision has to be certified with an apostille in Greece, then translated into Georgian with notarization and taken through the recognition procedure. We prepare the translation and tell you which authority handles your type of decision; if you need a representative, we translate the power of attorney in the same package.
The decision is 30 pages long. Does it all have to be translated?
It depends on the authority. Some ask for the full text; for others the operative part and the certificate of entry into force are enough. Tell us where you will submit it and we will tell you the exact volume before you order - we do not translate pages you do not need.
I am marrying an Italian and need a certificate that I am not married. But my first divorce is not registered here.
That is exactly the case where the divorce has to be recognised first - the certificate is issued only after that. We prepare the documents for both stages together: the translation of the foreign divorce into Georgian and, after recognition, the translation of the Georgian certificate into Italian with an apostille.
I took my husband's surname abroad, but my Georgian passport has my old surname. Which one do you use in the translation?
In each document, the surname that appears in it, and in a note - the link between the two surnames and the basis for the change (the marriage certificate). That way the authority sees that this is one and the same person. For a new passport you need a translation of the foreign marriage certificate.
Our child was born in Italy and is not in the Georgian register. What gets translated?
The Italian birth certificate (estratto di nascita) with an apostille - into Georgian, with notarization. The child's name is written in line with the parents' Georgian passports; if the parents are not married, the acknowledgement of paternity document is translated as well.
How quickly can the medical referral of a foreign patient arriving at the resort be translated?
A one- or two-page referral and diagnosis is usually done the same day during working hours - the resort doctor needs it before seeing the patient. On departure, the doctor's report and the invoice in the patient's language are prepared at the same pace, with the bureau stamp for the insurer.
